PU Body kits from Taiwan

Re: PU Body kits from Taiwan

replica bodykit = unknown fitment ( might or might not have problems )

and bad quality material = cause wavy paints and bubbling

for full bumper replacement...never get replica bodykits.... clips and covers..brackets..might not be supplied...

replica PU material which means it will be more prone to being wavy... original ACS bodykit is not 100% PU.... its actually mixed... kinda plasticky feel...

imho... small spoilers and add-ons can get replica... but bodykit... no no...

Re: PU Body kits from Taiwan

Hi there! Some parts are fine, like my Hartge front lip but as for the rest, I am not so confident. I brought in some ACS-style spoilers and i had like a 50% satisfaction hit rate. Just remember that replica parts are significantly cheaper than original but there is a chance of you having to do a bit more work on the part to fit than original. U have to weigh the pros and cons before u jump into it.

Cheers,
Sam

Sam,

Basically, my intent is to just look for those add-on stuff , as I do not want to replace the original parts.

My ride is E60 LCI 2008, and here are the items that I am looking for:

- add-on kit to the front bumper
- boot lid spoiler
- side skirts
- rear window spoiler

According to the website, these CarKing items are simple add-ons, with adhesive strips only , and does not require any drilling.

Based on your experienced , for those items that I listed , is the quality passable?

Please advise.

Thanks in advance

Noel

Have a look at the raw Hartge lip here:

Honestly, I was amazed when I opened the box since I thought that I would be getting FRP instead of ABS plastic like shown above. It fitted on real nicely except for the sides (where it meets the wheel well) which protruded out a bit too much. It was no biggie and I asked my workshop to trim that down and made it flush. Other than that, it was great fitment.

As for other parts, I am not sure. I too bought my ACS-style roof spoiler from them but that piece looked okay raw:

And when it was painted, initially it looked good:

But as time went by, 1 or 2 bubbles came up, due to the porous nature of the roof spoiler. I had to bring it back to get it re-prepped and re-done.

I can't convince you to buy as its ur money but at least I can let u know the risks involved in getting replica parts!

Cheers,
Sam

Re: PU Body kits from Taiwan

I have a taiwan replica rear bumper for my E36. Although PU is easy to repair, the finishing was very wavy. Regretted buying it.

Re: PU Body kits from Taiwan

from bumper add ons...might not look obvious... but boot and roof spoiler...and side skirt...looks worst...

replica bodykits need to find a reputable paint shops who can primer them properly... and spray once...or even twice..or even thrice... for perfect finishing...

Re: PU Body kits from Taiwan

Terry, in your 1st post of this thread you said small spoiler and add ons can get replica and full bumpers are a no go? Can clarify?

Re: PU Body kits from Taiwan

Bigger pieces of replica parts, if not manufactured properly, will look wavy even though the spray painter did a good job in prepping and spraying the piece. Furthermore, quite a number of replica parts are made from fibreglass, which are inflexible and easily cracked, especially if u are getting bodykits/bumper add-ons.

Re: PU Body kits from Taiwan

yep...bigger parts are usually more inconsistent and more difficult to make them look decent ( non wavy )

and for full bumper... brackets and clips might be an issue also... loose bumper during high speed can cause noise and shake

Re: PU Body kits from Taiwan

well let me give you guys some inputs

Wavy paints and bubbling is all depends on the bodyshop itself.
in my country, there is no such bubbling and wavy paints on the kits.I never heard about it.

why?1st all bodyshop in jakarta have their long experienced dealing replica kits.
trust me.I dont want to compare singapore bodshop's to jakarta bodyshops.

I found that some singapore bodyshop's said replica kits are bad and blah blah..dont want to waste lots of time as well. remember labour cost in singapore is very high.I agree with that.
and when there is some problems they always said " the kits is bad" well they are just dont want to spent more time on the kits

my brother staying in vancouver drove CLK W209 and bought an authentic brabus kits on his car.guess what?fittment problem's as well.

do not compare OEM to After market parts
