Problem with Remote Control

Hi, the remote control for my e60 (out of warranty) seems to be unresponsive.

If I try pressing the unlock button slightly further (i.e. 5m away) from the car, it does not detect at all. I need to go very near the car (literally next to the car), before the car can be unlocked.

Does anyone has this issue? I am wondering if it's a battery issue in the remote, or do they even have a battery in the remote????? Where can I get it checked?

its a norm , i went to PML to complaint before , they say they changed new remote and receiver for me , but its still the same .

very common issue.. juz have to live with it i guess.. mine only works 1m away from the car.. zzzzz

Ya mine also one metre , change new receiver and remote still the same , guess its because the remote itself is using low walttage to work

my work within a 10m range. remember owning a jap car with a aftermkt alarm. range - - - - -- -11 floors!! u go count.

maybe your key is not charging properly. Your key charges when your key in the key slot, that's y you dun really need to replace batt. Or maybe thats the spares key you seldom use?

Hello, I'm also having the same problem. I need to stand next to the car in order to unlock the car. Even though standing next to the car, sometimes it still can't detect and need to press unlock twice or thrice.

Have you done any window tinting recently? I noticed the sensitivity of my remote dropped quite a bit after i replaced all the window film to a darker tint.

my e60 is 4 yrs old...no window tinting...also have a press a few times...especially to activate the folding of the side mirrors...

i may be side tracking but holding on to the lock button to lock and fold the mirror, is it a comfort access feature? i held for good 5 secs but the mirror doesn't fold. haha

Ok mine is a slightly different variation that might or might not be related:
My ride has the comfort access but I realise that sometimes it doesn't unlock the door when I hold the handle (in fact lock door also same but alot less frequent).

On such occasions I have to let go and re-hold the handle in an attempt to unlock the door.. in the process feel really sheepish sometimes especially when there's other ppl nearby waiting to park into my lot. I have changed the battery of my remote but no diff.

I have also reported this to PPSL and they say cannot replicate the problem. :ehhh:

e90 LCI has this mirror fold feature..

and holding unlock button winds down all windows and sunroof..

BMW remote suxs ....mine oso must go near ..than sometimes cant open hahaha...damn paisei rite when your custy or frds waiting ahhahha..

same problem here..remote not sensitive...noticed it 1 week after i got my car but when i bring it down to the workshop ... seems to work fine lol
so no choice havta live with it

no.. unlock to open.. lock to close..
