Problem with bluetooth handsfree

I've always been very pleased with the bluetooth handsfree functionality of my E60. However, today, the handsfree suddenly went "dumb". The phone still pairs nicely with the car and when I make calls, the music goes off and it displays the phone number and the call time, BUT no sound at all. And the mic does not seem to work as well....

All other functions seem to work, I can dial from i-drive. But the car's handsfree has gone silent, even when using the voice activated function, there is no sound from car's handsfree.

Anyone encountered this problem ? And how was it solved ?

I had new shocks installed today, but I doubt that can cause this problem.... unless there's some connection in the boot that came loose... since they had to remove the boot lining to get to the top mounting of the rear shocks... hmmm... I saw the fuses and a number of electronic boxes in the boot under the boot lining...

Update - After posting on the web, I checked the parts database and indeed there was a component that was related to the handsfree in the boot. Well, I checked the connections and although they were plugged in, I plugged them out and back in.

Viola.... now it works... looks like the connectors must be slightly loose...

Bala, thanks for your suggestion.
