That's 1 of d reason i nvr pay them. If kena stopped, i will wind down my windown & nonchatantly give them my driving license.

If they 1 $$, they will chase me off within 2 mins by saying that summon will be send to me.

If they issue ticket, i will juz take loh. No big deal.

+1

Re: Practical speed limits in Malaysia

Last Fri, I drove to KL and on the way, there were 2 police roadblocks... one in Kulai, Johor and the other one in Malacca.

I knew since it is almost Raya, they are out to make fast money, so I drove within the speed limit. Both times, I was never stopped.

I guess, we are primarily talking about road blocks in NSE. How about B roads? How strict the speed limits on those?

It varies from roads to roads (50-80kmh I guess)... I dont drive much on the B roads especially areas where I am not familiar.

When i m siow, i drove up to 120km/h on a long stretch. On B-road, it is primarily overtaking when double white line in middle. Adhere to those line as it is usually blind spot corner.

It is on the B road where u get the kick. Overtaking 2 cars at 1 go:goodup:

Exactly the reason for asking... during my last trip I had to do it 2-3 times. Speed limit was 90, but I had to drive at 110-120 to pass long lorries driving at 80 in front of me.

Although I did it, I was always warried about TP stopping me!

My 120km/h is on empty pc of road & not juz overtaking. For those on B-road, i still take ticket. Don't bother to pay them. If these pest in the biz of taking coffee $$, they will chase me away.

Re: Practical speed limits in Malaysia

Just returned from PD. Saw one road block on way north, and two on the way back. I was cruising at the speed limit (pretty much), and I wasn't stopped.

Found a quite a few bullies in NSH tailgating few feet away and also flashing lights - even when I had no other place to go! I was disappointed to see half of them had SG plates! Outside NSH, I was pretty impressed with local's driving habits (in Port Dickson and Yong Peng areas). They were kind enough to give me way when I had to change the lane last minute - few times.

No traffic jams this time, except in JB (which made me regret my decision of returning via Woodlands).

Just before the Malaysian immigration entry, right after the last traffic light, cops have stopped three SG cars, and seemed like they were writing tickets. I had no clue why. It can't be speed limit because it is just the middle of the town. Hard to assume they ran on red lights, because it was three cars.

It was a pretty satisfying drive! I shall do it again. And, next time, I will stick to 2nd link.

Re: Practical speed limits in Malaysia

i was up last Saturday................no road block but saw 1x Evo Police so was driving at the right speed.

cheers

Re: Practical speed limits in Malaysia

Out of the three road blocks I passed, only one was sort-of active - one fellow carrying a red flag ready to wave. Other two were just sitting on the road sides with their cycles and cars parked on the roadside. Not even sure whether they were looking for something else.

I also have a feeling that this road blocking business is more on weekends where more SG cars are on the road.

I always take an aggressive stance during overtaking from far as i m to switch off & on cruise control. As rule of thumb, unless u intend to drive hi speed over an extended period of time, gun ur throttle to overtake (irregardless whether u exceed legal speed or not) & get back to left lane. Overwise, sure kena hi speed tailgater.
