Power Up For 520i?

Any recommendations? Finding the ride more and more sluggish and FC increasing.
Can this engine be tuned?

Re: Power Up For 520i?

velocity/sprintbooster -> overcome sluggish

lightweight wheel & tyres -> overcome FC

5-series is a heavy car and 520i is underpower so don't expect great FC. enjoy :)

+1..............

do ECU re-flash.........worst to worst....(Transplant 3L engine, FC sure go up more ya)

F10, 535i? N55 3L single turbo, better low end torque at 1200 rpm........as compared to the current twin turbo N54 (1400 rpm).......

Basically BMW cars are heavy so FC sure not very good ya........

Cheers

The torque numbers are the same between N54B30 and N55B30 blocks, so it is not "better low end torque" as you put it.

The peak torque on the N55B30 is achievable at 100-200 rpm lower than in N54B30.

N54B30 in stock form runs 0.4 bar. What's the number on N55B30?

Install Velocity Throttle confirm no regret. I did mine 3 months ago. If I remove the Velocity now, I think I don't know how to drive. Can feel big big different immediately after installing. Ride is so much more enjoyable.

Cheers!

Agreed. Good advise.

For me the Velocity solve my low rev sluggish feel. The move-off "pull" is much stronger and throttle is more responsive.

Afterall, I'm a defensive driver. So, I'm satisfied with my ride. No need to "Power-up" any further and create problems. :)

I use Map 3 which is very suitable for my driving style. It's not jerky at all. Smooth as silk. :)

Re: Power Up For 520i?

is map3 suitable for city driving especially heavy traffic during peak hour ?

I find Map 3 suitable for me both on city as well as highway. My first month after installing was always set on Map 2. After that I set to Map 3 and I enjoyed the greater respond. I don't constantly change the setting.

It's entirely up to individual preference on which power profile selection to pick.

Anyone who likes fast and powerful car should not in the first place buy a 520i. Getting a 525i instead would be the correct choice.

Re: Power Up For 520i?

Just installed 2 units of Violence 3 Drive (Taiwan) $330 x 2 on my 2004 525I au Sung Beng at Circuit Road, similar as Pivot 3 Drive (Japan) $400+ x1. Notice that this brilliant thing when set from Sport 4 to 7 has overwrite my stock but yet i can set back to normal again.

Feel like driving a totally different car, launching is definitely awesome. No lag anymore. Really thumbs up as compare to my WRX auto has to wait for 3300rpm for turbo to kick in.

The drag, torque for pick up is much smoother than original quite lag and rough. Pretty amaze. You will be surprised that pick up will not inferior than Audi 2.0 or 335i.
