Potenza RE01-R and RE050 Pole Position

Hi all I'm looking to replace my aging Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. I wanna know what's the key difference between the two tires above?

I'm inclined towards 90% spirited street driving and the remainder for a possibility in Sepang. If you have other recommendations just shout it out, PS2 is my no 1 choice but can't really afford it.

Your opinions are appreciated thanks!

look for the RE070 very good tyre.
semi slick = RE055 releasing soon

How much is 1 pc for 18"?

Are there available stock or must ident?

Why not the RE050A Pole Position?

I've heard that the RE070 is unbelievably noisy, even tirerack rates it 5.6/10 for noise comfort.

Definitely the RE-01R but locally afaik, there isnt 18in available yet. Max is 17.
But u can always import em from the US..couple of guys here hv done it.
Bear in mind tho that the tires are alot heavier than PS2. For the same size easily 1.5kg a corner!

Leong Seng is negotiating with US Supplier to bring in both 18 n 19in :)

Gad
RE55 semi slick is already in town. South East tires have them in stock for you Ebos. Aint cheap tho. FYI, the 18in 225/40 is 450 a piece

Gd luck

Roughly how much are we looking at for 1 pc of 18"?

Any chances that it will be in town in mid June?

Re: Potenza RE01-R and RE050 Pole Position

no chance I think
I think per piece for 18 225/40 is shy 400 bucks, aint that cheap but sure cheaper than PS2

oi dont anihow say hor... u got the wrong person.
Still waiting for u!

Re: Potenza RE01-R and RE050 Pole Position

If the RE01-R is hard to get, would the Advan AD07 be a good alternative? Tirerack rates this tire pretty damn high.

How much are these in 18'?

Re: Potenza RE01-R and RE050 Pole Position

AD07 is in the same class as the RE01R, ie max performance summer tires grade
but IMO, RE is more superior. AD07 is fine for daily driving and occasional track use but it really isnt that great at all.

A better alternative to AD07 is Falken RT615, I have tried both and AD07 was nowhere near the Falken.

Re: Potenza RE01-R and RE050 Pole Position

hi,

Juz got the RE01R 2 days ago, very gd handling and stiff sidewalls. already travelled 300km on them and the tires are becoming less noisy and more grippy. Its sidewalls are one of the most beautiful tyre sidewalls I've ever seen. :yummie:

Nothing to boast about cos i got them on 16" rims that came with my E90. Size 205/55/R16.

definitely better than the michelin pilot premacy RFTs that came with my E90.

Where did you get them from?

Did the place you get from have 18"?

I got them from Southeast Tyre @ marine terrace but got them installed at their ubi HQ.
I didn't check abt 18" :p

$225 per tyre for 205/55/16

Was driving on it this morning when it rained. V.gd grip at corners but aqua-planing resistance not as gd as my PS2s on the 350z. Probably because the Z is heavier and also have wider tracks. Probably haven't scrubbed in enough... :yummie:

.. dry veri good.. wet.... damn jialat.

RE01R after 500km on wet surface is comparable to PS2. Gd hydroplaning resistance. Of course cornering grip lose to my PS2 due to size different. 205/55/16 vs F225/45/18, R245/45/18. but still v.stable and gd for a tyre so narrow. However, got a bad feeling RE01R will wear faster than the PS2s...

Tried and tested "Sweet spot" pressure for 205/55/16 RE01Rs on E90:
Fr 32 PSI
Rr 34 PSI

Cheers~!
