Posting prices on sales thread

It would be helpful if sponsors indicated their sales price openly in their threads.

More convenient (less posts, SMSes, calls just to check pricing) and creates a more transparent and competitive environment. The forum could help promote this for forummers' benefit, and in turn that would help site sponsors.

Just a suggestion! :)

Something like what they do in the US ?

Re: Posting prices on sales thread

not me hor......i very transparent one :p

Re: Posting prices on sales thread

i guess its a matter of time and also comfortability with doing that and it varies from supplier to supplier.
this kinda thing can't be imposed.
for me, i am doing mostly asthetic mods and am a believer in the world wide web and ebay so no use hiding abt pricing n stuff.
my price aint the lowest but can say its the more reasonable ones but whats more important is the service that is rendered to the end-user.
do remember though, pricing aint everything, price+quality+service is always the full equation.

cheers!!!

Re: Posting prices on sales thread

I can understand if site sponsors don't put price.
But individuals selling used parts also dont put prices. What's the rationale?

Not sure about that. For instance, a local watch forum requires prices to be stated on threads - it is a very helpful rule there!

Steady lah. Too bad you don't have the stuff I've been shopping for. Agree pricing isn't everything, and sometimes it is worth it to pay more for better quality and service.

Wah, even Geylang and KTVs practice open pricing, only streetwalkers see face! Shopping here feels like going to streetwalkers? :D

Price or no price, your sales thread always got a lot of OT :nehnehhh:

Re: Posting prices on sales thread

Btw sszone's pricing is most transparent; but even that still got lots of lowballers wanting discounts.
I suggest these people go make market survey and find out market price first before asking him for ridiculous discounts. Either that or change to Cherry QQ, confirm mod parts cheaper.
Sorry I'm a bit blunt here but I do encounter many low ballers myself. Like my underwear selling $0.20 Hitmee still want to offer me $0.10. :laughlik:

Absolutely second this. Why hide beneath the veil of secrecy? This is an open market - be ready to embrace competition. Even if you don't post your price on the public forum, trust that we are shrewd consumers who will check around for prices too (albeilt by the tedious and painful way of PM - which I find so ridiculous).

Have you seen those sponsors' threads that go into a gadzillion pages, with 90% of posts being from the sponsor that says, "you've got PM" - come on, the only time you should be saying that is if you are having a secret converstation with your illicit lover (which may be is the case).

You mean "discount sent"?

Haha, in which case, the veil of secrecy has just been lifted. Over-priced initially, then "yeah! for you as a special forum member, I'm giving you xx%". Frankly, this takes me back 30 years, when hawkers refuse to put prices on their wares, and you are expected to haggle, wrangle and strangle their necks, and hopefully arrive at the market clearing price (in the absence of better information in those days, unless you are willing to walk from store to store to compare prices - which is what we now are having to do by going to several sponsors, ask for a price, wait for them to PM you back - which sometimes takes forever - to finally get their prices and compare across sponsors).

Have we actually moved backwards? Reminds me or patpong today!! hahahhahah

If pricing ain't everything, then the more sponsors should be comfortable sharing them. Sorry, just my $0.02 worth, and if I come across as being harsh, it's because I have it just up to here with all these PM nonsense.

ermmmm....."pricing aint everything, price+quality+service is always the full equation" is my advice to Bro Valjean nia.......keke

like what i have mentioned, the level of comfortability varies from sponsor to sponsor.
not all of them are used to the idea of complete transparency and would prefer the PM approach.
as long as they replies to PM promptly, it shouldn't be that bad.

Re: Posting prices on sales thread

a bit OT ah....replying all these posts, i just realised i joined the forum for 6 yrs liao....some of the other bros even longer...

All good.

I'm just venting about:
1. The fear of being transparent when we are smart consumers who will in any case go around comparing prices
2. This is an open market and the information highway is far more superior than many sponsors will be led to believe
3. This is an extremely inefficient practice (adds more work for us poor end users here), when this can be streamlined instantly if the first post by the sponsor is "we have product X for BMW model 1, at price of $xxx)

Just make our lives easier. We are already swamped as it is by emails at work, SMS's from secret lovers, Facebook messages from irritating friends, to have to have 1 more forum to attend to (when all we are doing is in fact, giving business to the sponsors).
