[/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]FINALLY, BMW's brilliant 1 Series is expected to arrive in Singapore soon - some time next year. The smallest BMW available was launched in 2004 as a hatchback and has been available here as a parallel import. But now the range has widened to include a coupe and a convertible, BMW Asia has decided to officially import it.
It is understood that all three variants will be offered by dealer Performance Motors. Hints that the 1 Series was likely to debut here were dropped by BMW senior vice-president for central marketing and brand management Torsten Muller-Otvos when he visited Singapore in September. The 1 Series Coupe is said to be especially desirable because of the way it looks and handles. But if that's not enough, there will also be a souped up variant.

My SE says sime darby decide to bring in 1 series bcos it sells well in Malaysia.

i think its first strike against parallel importers.nothing to do with malaysia.

i participated in a survey about 6months ago for BMW Asia...outsourced to some survey company asking for opinions of the car...
they eventually led me into a room where they expected me to be woahed by the 1 Series...but i had just came back from K.L where there were a considerable amount of 1 Series and told them straight it was an Auto Bavaria car they brought in...
the surveyor later asked me to indicate the price i will pay for the car...i ticked between $90-95K

i say the car will retail close to E90. btw, can somebody educate me what series are the 1's? tia

E81 (3-door hatchback)
E87 (5 door hatchback)

E82 (Coupe)
E88 (Coupe convertible)

Pricing aside, for those who'd think that the 1er is way lighter than the 3er, you will be in for a surprise....... IT IS HEAVY !!!

Yup, the 135i is only 40kg lighter than the 335 but its 0-100km/h = 5.3sec!

Any one knows if the PI carries the 130? What's the likely damage be for the 130 then?
