PI or PML?

I have been struggling to weigh the pros and cons between buying a 325i Coupe from a PI or PML? Could anyone help to give some comments or experience on this please?

Thanks in advance.

Re: PI or PML?

if the saving is less then 15k ,then you are better off with pml, when it comes to resell time, scond hand dealer will give sh it reason like not offical car no resale value, hard to sell .....plus second hand buyer wold like the assurance that they can bring back the car to pml and get a lower price servicing

most of all,, when you bang table, they respond, if you are PI , you bang table they call police

Re: PI or PML?

It all depends on which PI you get from.

I just sold a custom build FL E90 335 steptronic.

More options than PML's FL E90 335; cheaper than PML by $23k~$25k with about the same OMV with PML's of $62k+

U can custom build your E92 325 with me, 4months delivery.

I can also plan your mods too!

Don't need to band tables.....& I also won't call police.....kekekeke

Cheers

Um.. when I approached PML to trade in my PML purchased E60 late last year, they said better if you go sell it outside

Re: PI or PML?

If you are conservative, not modding, stick to PML - it gives a sense of comfort in case things go terribly wrong in the first 3 years. That does not mean that service is utmost.

If you are looking at savings, look around. What are my savings? Who's this PI? Any history, or fly-by-night shop? Who supports them in the after-sale service? Who covers the warranty? For how long?

At the end of the day, PML is far from perfect - we all know that. PIs are not all rascals too. So there is value/savings to be extracted if do your research properly.

Take the PI car compare to PML's. Specs differences? Check the list. The PI tends to omit many items (compartment package, lights package for instance) perhaps to under-invoice the OMV..... the price difference? $X?.

Compare the OMV at $Y and $Z respectively.

You save $X up front.

Now, how does the lower OMV impact you? Some PIs will tell you lower OMV translate to lower PARF rebate. How much lower, you should ask.

Say you drive for 5 years. COE and body value will be omitted in the calculation.

OMV for PI - 55% times $Y = $0.55Y
OMV for AD - 55% times $Z = $0.55Z

Your rebate will differ by $0.55 x (Y-Z), not $(Y-Z). This is important. Take the difference on the savings, add in financing costs ($X plus interests). The numbers are quite clear.

As for warranty issue, the aftersales support will come into play. Which workshop will do the maintenance and aftersales support? Have they got the necessary experience and tools?

Re: PI or PML?

if u might be driving for a long time
ya better off with PI
but pls get from a reputable one and not one that will close shop anytime
don't be tempted by a cheaper price of 2 to 3k
not worth it

y PI's ok dis days?
PI usually have lower OMV
but if the OMV is say 20k lower
but in 10 yrs time, u get 50% back
so ya savings are 10k
but if the upfront savings is say 20k
it might be worth it

no right or wrong, just how u look at things...

Re: PI or PML?

If you chose PI, check that their warranty workshop has the diagnostic software for your car. Go visit their workshop and get a feel of their professionalism. Check also that they have the latest softwares on their computers for older models too. that's a guide to whether they will have the latest software upgrades for your car when it becomes available.

Apart from the OMV, check the option list to make sure what you want is there.

Re: PI or PML?

hi all,
For BMW, PI is OK, other makes I am not sure...please check.
Why?
PML still have to honour the warranty for the 1st and 2nd year so if anything goes wrong, you are covered.
We have BVO, J4C, these 2 capable workshops to service after the warranty period.
If let say you prepare to sell before 5th year, looking at the resale market in Spore, most likely the car will be EXPORTED then PML car or PI car, no different leow. All based on OMV.
If the exportors are trying to cut-throat, saying PI car fetch lower price, then you know this exportor should be avoided. I am sure you can find a good exportor from this forum.

my 0.000001 cent worth.

Re: PI or PML?

that's awesome !!! my next bimmer will be from a trusted PI then.

Re: PI or PML?

having read thru, n visited PML n some PIs........ i guess getting my intended 335i conv would be much cheaper than from pml.........

tat pml guy jus told me smeting: PI cars got no iDrive, so lower resale value. of course i bought at a much lower price, therefore lower resale la......... :)

Re: PI or PML?

I am also considering going the PI route...

Am interested in the E92 320 (or even 323) Coupe but PML only got 325 onwards

Re: PI or PML?

please request to see the where is the authorised dealer chop or predelivery inspection done, and manufactured dates of the PI cars. also question if the vehicle is "tropically" equipped.
