Philippine government, selling goods to the victims of super typhoon.

I hope its not true.
--------------------------------------------------

While the whole world has already given more than 200 million US dollars to help the victims of the super typhoon Haiyan(Yolanda), the Department of Trade and Industry(DTI) of the Philippines is doing a 'Diskwento Caravan' - selling goods to the typhoon victims in low prices.

According to the news reported by the GMA network, the DTI has been selling some basic goods like bread, coffee, milk, and processed meat to the people of Tacloban City who was recently devastated by the super typhoon Haiyan. It was mentioned that the DTI is selling these goods in 10% to 30% less than the original price in the market. The people of Tacloban City were left no choice but to grab this little opportunity because, as they stated, they might die in hunger if they will just depend on the 'little' amount of food donations being distributed by the Philippine government.

This fact is VERY DISAPPOINTING and VERY FRUSTRATING since the whole world knew that the donations for the Filipino people were overflowing since day one after the typhoon. While the government of other countries have been thoughtfully giving great amount of help to the Filipino people affected by the typhoon, the government of the Philippines seems to be unwilling to help its own people.

I do not trust the Philippine government .

But I guess the current President is trying to clean up the corruptions during his rule which I think it's pretty good.

But I do like their Spanish cum mix blood history actress ...

But what happened to the donations that went to Philippines?

Re: Philippine government, selling goods to the victims of super typhoon.

And tats why I refuse to donate to such causes....I'd rather donate directly to the recipients than to an organisation

Re: Philippine government, selling goods to the victims of super typhoon.

Lots of pinoy bashing going on. I heard my neighbour complaining about FT policy especially on pinoys last month, in the lift. This morning, I saw her directing her pinoy maid in washing her car. Sibey sart. CCB garmen. Irrelevant.

should look at the comments before commenting as mock has indicated

this is the original story

Murang bilihin sa 'Diskwento Caravan' ng DTI, dinumog ng mga taga-Tacloban | 24 Oras | GMA News Online

seems that DTI is involved to make sure that the sellers do not overprice the goods but sell at a discount...

but then what happened to all the donated stuffs??? how come the suppliers can get the goods over but not the military. think that's what many are asking...

Bash first, talk later. No need logic. Just emotionally-charged arguments will do......

Re: Philippine government, selling goods to the victims of super typhoon.

No need to bash the Pinoy maid. Mine was lazy, had an attitude and stole. Sent her packing, now I hire part-time cleaner. Some more, Singaporean auntie. I sack FT & hire local. CCB garhmen should gimme a medal!

Are you a medical professional ? I hope we fire all foreign doctors and nurses and only keep the locals. Is that logical and viable? Your view?

I think my point above was that the Pinoy in my employ had an attitude, was lazy and stole from me. If she was an Indo/Cambodian/Malaysian/Singaporean part-time cleaner auntie, I would have done the same. How you read into my words is your prerogative.

Oh, I thought the current campaign was to B52 the entire pinoy cohort and assign blame to the garmen.

BTW, your thoughts on the FT policy in the medical field?

Not sure who would want to Fat Boy the entire Pinoy cohort - or why, since mother nature already did such a grand job recently. I've neither issue nor bone to pick with the Pinoys I encounter in my daily life - mainly F&B line, service oriented & random bank cold calls. I just happen to have fcuk all luck when it comes to getting a decent Pinoy maid to (a) NOT sneak out to see a man or (b) NOT sneak a man in to see her & (c) keep her fingers to herself and not rifle through my wallet.

FT policy in medical field? Probably wrong thread to discuss this - don't wanna OT too much. Might detract from the sympathy that typhoon Haiyan's generating for the Philippines recently :p

Filipino nurses are more compassionate than PRC / most Singaporean nurses.... at least those I have encountered in the maternity ward at Raffles Hospital Singapore where my wife was a patient twice in recent years.

during the stay..... the filipino nurses try to alleviate pain / discomfort experienced by the patient as best as they possibly can... and often offer soothing words / words of encouragement...'you'll be ok....btw, here is a cooling pad to place on the wound to numb it'

whereas the life hardened PRC / stoic faced Singaporean nurses usually say....'oh its like dat one....' 'surgery / wound sure pain one....' you tahan a bit... few days later the pain will be less.

filipino nurses ftw.....
