I thought the entry level (for Singapore) for the E90 now is 320i?

BMW no fight. Merc is supercharged i think.

Anyway 318i is just a 320i but I think less 20 horses...

I think only 7 ponies only. Really don't know why they bring it in for....

Yes, SC.

Even though I own an NA-engine BMW, I think that SC or TC is the way to go, into the future.

Not only BMW (as in their 335i and upward engines), but look at Audi / VW and now Mercedes Benz. All on forced induction engine platforms.

Looking back though, SAAB and Volvo had made their point on turbo charging, more than 2 decades ago.
Now the others are jumping the band wagon.

Hi, I (or maybe my parents am I'm just 15) has just ordered the new 318i on saturday. Uh, the 318 is built in Germany and has full memory seats while the 320 is bulit in Africa and has the partial electric seats(Only can raise and lower the bottom rest, cannot go up and down). Anyway, hello to the forumers and hope i can get my parents to attend your events and meetings! :B

Just wondering what exactly you guys have against the South African manufactured beemers?

Not defending the SA cars, seriously just wondering. Like, have they broken down more than the German manufactured ones in your experience? Or because they have lower OMV?

I am only asking because the SA plant have received the gold award from JD Power before, while the Munich plant got a silver in the same year. Think they scored 85 problems per 100 cars while Munich scored 87. Toyota in Japan was scoring in the 90s.

maybe cos people like my parents dont like african made cars? hahaha, but to me it's the better car that will get me to buy it. Better as in drives better and more comfortable. My parents decided to get the 318 instead of the 320 cos the torque arrives earlier in the 318 than the 320. Which also means they dont need to rev too much=saves fuel . And, with about 15+/- hp difference it's not going to make a big difference AND the 318 costs 108k+ (after minus the extra alpine sound system, 3m carpets, window sun stickers things etc.etc.)

maybe cos people like my parents dont like african made cars? hahaha, but to me it's the better car that will get me to buy it. Better as in drives better and more comfortable. My parents decided to get the 318 instead of the 320 cos the torque arrives earlier in the 318 than the 320. Which also means they dont need to rev too much=saves fuel . very wise obesrvation by your parents on rpm needed to acheive peak torque.

318i doesnt come with xenons or climate control aircon

dunno why but my father doesnt like the xenons but i find them very chio! but the FL car already has the angel/light rings as standard, so they look good! 8) yeah, the non climate control aircon knobs look cheap for that type of car and i dont really like it but it's okay cos the mercedes b class we have also has the non digital aircon.

Synthetic. That may sound as a dissapointment but i think that because it's not real leather, maintainence will be easier. the 318 uses EXACTLY the SAME engine as the 320 which means that the 318 will consume less fuel than the 320 and also as i said at my previous posts the maximum horsepower and torque in the 318 will arrive much earlier than the 320 due to the mapping of the ECU*
* (correct me if i'm wrong)

ya, it can. on thumbdrive also can. just plug it into the USB port in the armrest.
