Oil residue found in radiator

Dear Bros, recently found oil stains on the radiator cap. There are some oil residue when I look from the top of the radiator. What could be the probable cause?

Re: Oil residue found in radiator

I had it before, but in my case it became Milo inside the radiator tank. The residue could be EO or ATF. It's likely you have a slight leak somewhere. Get it fixed at a good workshop before it gets worse.

Re: Oil residue found in radiator

It is leak at either engine oil cooler or gearoil cooler... it will cause engine overheat...

Please get it solve ASAP

Re: Oil residue found in radiator

any recommendations on where you do it and how they diagnose the leak?

Re: Oil residue found in radiator

If you use water wetter etc - the brown stuff floating around is normal.

If you mix silicated coolant with non-silicated coolant, you would get that brown stuff as well.

Best is to go to a site sponsor WS and ask them to have a look..........there's a link to a directory of workshops at the top of the forum.

I am just using water , no coolant, can anyone show me how the engine oil cooler and ATF cooler looks like?

Technically it's called a heat exchanger.

No coolant?? Holy cow... Best to bring it to a site sponsor workshop quick to see where it is leaking. No point guessing here...

Re: Oil residue found in radiator

Sean, we have lots of telepathic mechanics here who can diagnose what prob a car have thru description by words.
Why waste money and time sending to ws.

Re: Oil residue found in radiator

actually the purpose of asking is to know what to expect from the bros that experience similar issue....

Like I said, it's normally the EO or ATF heat exchangers. But could be a whole variety of other parts esp since you mentioned that the cooling system has not coolant inside. Hopefully not anything inside the engine. Better get it to a workshop to be checked out... Good luck!
