Re: Oh NO!! Swirl Marks!!

how bad r the swirl marks? swrils r common on our rides. dun think there is any that does not have it. only way is to minimize. if not so serious i suggest using some scratch remover polishes to remove it. else send it down to a reputable groomer. they shld be able to deal with it with the right tools.

some pics on ur swirls will help assess the situation better

Re: Oh NO!! Swirl Marks!!

You have to machine it off, else, using fillers are only temporary solutions to mask them.

Re: Oh NO!! Swirl Marks!!

Yeah....send it down to one of our site sponsors, e.g. SS Tay. He should be able to fix you up good.

Else....like acu said...BOOMZ!

Re: Oh NO!! Swirl Marks!!

Try using 3M Swirl marks removal. However, I think it won't totally remove as swirl marks are minor scratches. Most probably what it will do is to cover it.

Re: Oh NO!! Swirl Marks!!

should be able to get rid off by professional groomer , no worries..........

cheers

Can try SS Tay at 1st Auto. Very effective for removing swirls.

One of the more professional restorer is Elite, located besides BOSS Motorsports, Sin Ming Autopoint 04-06. One session for total restoration is about $400, but this is NOT grooming. This is restoration. Full machining of paintwork.

Will this not remove a "layer" of varnish from the paintwork?
these guys r pros, they will know what to do.

what varnish r u refering to? u meant sealant?

Re: Oh NO!! Swirl Marks!!

The "vanish" is called clearcoat.

We actually have a rather thick clear coat.

Swirl marks are actually simply thin scratches on the clear coat.

So yes, polishing them away will thin the clear coat but very little.

I DIY clear swirl marks once in a while. deep scratches will remove more clear coat.

Not to worry, if you only have swirl marks and not deep scratches, your clearcoat will actually last you a long time, by then you would have change a car or gotten a new paint job.

Hope this helps

How good is Elite? How do they compare to the now defunct S4C?

Close in standard. Kelvin will take the whole day to restore the car. One element of doubt - product. S4C uses Poor Boy/Mezza. Elite uses own concoction.

Elite is the owner of the the 3 SPC wash stations on Bukit Timah, Dunearn and Thomson. Previously Whitley Road Esso station.

Autoglym is good as well....
for grooming actually is not about the $ cause the most important is the skill of the groomer and the product they use...................

try First Automobile......they are good.........

happy grooming

Re: Oh NO!! Swirl Marks!!

Are we talking about restoration or grooming?

Grooming can only mask swirlmarks using fillers, one or few washes and they will re-appear again.
