We still have about 24 hours of waiting before Subaru finally opens the tap on the 2008 Impreza WRX STi but we might as well be prepared for what Subie has in store for us. God knows how many scans and spy pics we’ve seen up until now, but you’ll agree with us when we say that these leaked brochure scans are the best next thing to the official images. The scans reveal the Impreza WRX STi in all its glory and even though we feel somewhat weird saying this, but the STi doesn’t look as half as bad, especially when you compare it to the rest of the 2008 Impreza range. So unless someone decides to break the embargo prior to the official launch date (October 10), follow the jump and enjoy the best pics of the STi up to date. -Continued

If the old black photos were real, then WHITE is definitely not the color for this.

Overhang seems very long.

But it does seem to be lighter than Evo VR4

they all look nice to me save the front. Nothing the aftermarket can't fix though.

This is a 10-speed car, with a switchable final drive. wonder if they can achieve great 0-100 times by mastering double shifting!

Profile view reminds me of a Ford Focus ST, except for the front which is straight from Mazda. Lower rear bumper from Evo 9.

Subaru has released official photos and initial info on the new JDM-spec Impreza WRX STI. Details remain scant, however, as Subaru only tells us that the new STI is powered by a 16v 2.0L boxer with a twin-scroll turbo mated to a 6-speed manual. SI-DRIVE, multi-mode Drivers Control Center Differential (DCCD) and Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) are also standard. All of these things have been widely speculated on and/or reported already. Specific power numbers are conspicuously absent, so we'll have to wait for the rest of it when the car bows in Tokyo in a couple of weeks. Based on what's already been leaked, look for 304 horses and 311 lb-ft of torque in the Japanese-market model. What's no longer a mystery is the car's appearance, which is muscular and aggressive -- a huge improvement over the base WRX. Head to the gallery below to see the car unmasked at last.

We knew we hadn’t heard the last word on the ’08 Impreza WRX STi (click here) since we’re still waiting for the full press kit, but to receive a new set of images from a Mitsubishi EVO enthusiast forum (Evolutionm) is something we weren’t expecting. The new set of real-life pictures unveil several details of the ’08 STi including the delicious front Recaro bucket seats and a few motion images. You can check out the gallery right after the jump. And oh yeah; is it me or is the STi’s rear-bench (cause that’s not a seat) look like the worst possible place to be if the driver decides to have some -300Hp- fun? -Continued
