Obit

Otto, technically, PML will not be able to detect the OBIT unit from their scanner as the original ECU and program is still there. They can only detect the OBIT when they open the ECU box in you engine compartment. This is assuming that the OBIT tuning port is nicely hidden out of sight.

Thus if they open your ECU box, they will still be able to detect the presence of something there before as the OBIT will need to interface with some wires in the ECU. Therefore even with the piggy back out the cut or spliced wires will still show some modding......

As for the best tuner for the OBIT, this is very subjective. A good tuner is one that gives you what you want........ A tuner can give you fantastic power and throw economy out the window. On the other extreme, give you great economy and burn your pistons when you push your engine to the limit. So like all things in life, you will need to trade something for something.

IMHO, a programmable piggyback is the way to go cos knowing BM owners, there is never a final destination to modding and the programmabe piggy back is the way to go. Therefore it leads me to 1 conclusion. Find a tuner that is able to give you suitable power by optimising your setup and also provide reliable after sales service for your next mod.....exhaust, headers, intakes.....

Cheers

Hi People.

Since Obit is a plug on Piggy back ECU, can we safely remove it before PML service and plug it back after without retuning?

some say hiop reflash will not voild warrenty, can anyone verifly this?

would appreciate any bro who have experence with any of this 2 SW upgrades.

i think the price different is around 400.

who is the best tuner for obit?

thanks in advance

otto

Hello otto,

I just did the Obit today for my E60 520i. This is probably the best mod I've done to my car. I am impressed with the torque increment that the obit did for my car, which is what I am looking for and what the 520i needs. Bernard from BVO has been very patient adjusting the mapping for the best possible gain as I notice when we were testing the car for almost 45mins to and fro the SLE. I was initially intending to sell my car of only 5 months and after the Obit, I might just keep it for much longer. The other thing I noticed is the throttle respond is so much better than before. I would recommend this mod to anyone.

Cheers!

:ehhh: sorry to OT a little... does OBIT works well for jap cars too? I'm driving a mazda 323. Wonder if it works well with such cheapo jap cars like mine!?! Could anyone advise?

I'd like to noe the price range of Obit for E36 4 pot
advice me please

for all you gurus out there,
correct me if i am wrong but orbit only works on non-valvotronic engines right?

Maybe we should ask our resident expert on this subject with the Obit Wilman who receommended me to this mod.

Wow,

after your discription, don't mod also cannot liao.

But I'm worried about the PML warrenty.

Group mod anyone?

OttO

BTW, who did you look for in BVO?

Okay, I've been noticing a lot of Orbit installations lately and everyone who has done it is impressed with it so here's what's bugging me:

Is it really that good? Explain "good".

I've been reading up about Orbit when it 1st came to Singapore and our technical dudes have been dissecting it and discussing about the virtues/disadvantages of such a piggyback system. (Not that I understand all that technical mumbo-jumbo.) :uhhh:

Now all that being said and done, what are the results from the Orbit installation? I've heard from tons of pple 1st hand that after a whole day of tuning, the car is performing really well and stuff. Throttle response is better and stuff, more noise and stuff and stuff and stuff, but what about power gains?

Just curious, we are choosing Orbit because of:

1. tangible power gains?
2. intangible gains, ie: "Wah more noise, so thinking car goes faster!", "car more responsive"?
3. Other reasons?

I think that its best that we can discuss about Orbit, especially from the pple who have done it, so that future potential "Orbit-ers" can look through and make their decision!

I do hope its not in "blind faith" that we are installing this on our rides without checking out the pros/cons of it!

Cheers and let's discuss!

Sam, my post is only an answer and its not "blind faith" asking ppl to install. Pls do not misunderstanding us (obit owner). If ppl ask me good or not, I got no comments after so many discussion. Many valvetronic owner tested my car b4, rev til red line.. just to know whats obit makes miracle... :shoot: nabei... i wanna kill them, waste my petrol only.

As for dyno, yes... someone did it before n after Obit.

Cheers bro.. happy new year !!! it's party time

Knn..$%*&*^% Stoooopid decision to change ECU make$^%$&*% :furious: :furious: :furious:

At least I have no regrets with Obit. Faster throttle response, low/mid/high torque are improved tremedously. Ride smoother and FC lower .. surprised surprised.. You do not need to fully depress your pedal anymore....

One thing that I must point out ... If you fear about PML warranty, then dun do it. No question ask. You can comfortably sit in your ride for 3 years, and still consider consider hybernate bybernate until your next new ride come along and this goes on and on.

All these are recommendations mod and tested and proven real-live. If you still have doubt, then dun do it.

As as long as there are mod ... it will eventually void your warranty.

Otto, why were you thinking of selling your E60 520i? Did you find the 2.2 litre engine underpowered for a E60?

DJ, it's Auburn who wants to sell his E60, not Otto.. :ehhh:

Nope, no misunderstanding to all at all. Just wanted a discussion on the Orbit and its benefits/detriments, that's all. :)

So what's the result of the dyno? Any gains?

To Galant1688,

its good to know that there is "Faster throttle response, low/mid/high torque are improved tremedously. Ride smoother and FC lower" I assume that everyone who had it can confirm this?

As for warranty, i guess that anyone who wants to "orbit" his/her car jolly well knows that it (warranty) goes out the window :)

About having doubts, yes for others, hence this discussion about Orbit! ;)

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your input on Obit, :)

Does anyone has experence in Hiop- SW from Germany?

As claimed, it is a reflash and PML cannot detect, hence keeping warrenty with Oomp!!
:whattheh:

please share your experences, other options are welcome.

cheers!

OTTO

actually PML doesnt care less whether they can detect any software in your ECU, unless you are claiming warrenty for your ECU.

Question from newbie : my 320ci has only 7K km on the clock, and nber even redlined yet

I actually intended to do obit when the car has clocked, say 20k. But it is very tempting reading all the positive comments n now i can't wait! So would there be any issue if I obit it now?
