Juz sharing an experience few days back...

Travelling up north to kl for work...
Going at "fast" speed.
Then "Engine Overheating, please drive slowly... "
Slow a little... then "Engine Overheated, please stop vehicle..."

200km frm singapore...

Stuck.. .then very fast the highway petrol come...

their highway Mobile repair also very fast appear...

Then tow truck also lai very fast... wah i tot m'lsia boleh lah!!

Unwillingly, kena tow to their workshop... very ulu place...

Then waited waited... okay forgot to state; my expansion tank big crack big time... coolant all leaked...

They somehow found an original bmw expansion tank...

PRICE QUOTED.... sorry its LL, not given a choice... RM1,000 + RM180(tow)

Then replaced liao... happy, decided to uturn bk singapore...

drive quite 'fast' again...
THEN!

"Engine Overheat " message appear again!!

Car stopped again... lucky only 60km frm custom... balls tight tight drive slowly bk to my workshop at admiralty...

Mechanic told me i very lucky... cos the tow truck might juz tow me to someplace n u knw all the scary stuff...

so guys driving up north do be prepared for anything to happen... pray before u travel... i did not.. lol

sg workshop bleed, flush, replaced water pump + thermostat

says tt the water pump n thermostat is sploit. so basically mlsia carrot chop workshop juz replacing the expansion tank did not solve the problem.

after sg repair, so far so gd, but yet to travel up north... a bit phobia leh...

So what's causing the 2nd warning?

Please check their details before let them tow your car, also inform any friends or relatives nearby so some one can backup you.

if car breakdown in NSH, is there a choice to call BMW assistance or must use the NSH plus tow truck rescue service?

Last time my car breakdown due to waterpump defect, within few minutes some one will drive lorry or car to offer help, just simply reject them. They will tell you that you will get summon or blah blah to make you panic. If you agree then you'll be carroted.

oh ya, this is the one part also... i called BMW Malaysia Emergency Assist...

1st time ... rang.. but no answer
2ns time... rang.. but no answer
3rd time... gave up.. succumb to private tow...

then along the towing process.. called BMW again,.. finally someone pick up... talk talk talk.. the only answer/solution... must tow to Malacca... then they CAN help you...

forget it, might as well i solve problem myself..

for money part, if tow to malacca bmw service centre, i dunno will end up officially kena carrot how much...

Some workshop at Singapore they got contact of towing service in Malaysia. It should be more reliable than some joker come to you from nowhere.

Ya, BMW is almost = carrot head anywhere/anytime.

I discovered few choices.. its really your own call:

1) Call BMW Malaysia and arrange for tow to nearest Service Centre
2) Call your insurance company if you have repatriation in your policy. (Mine up to $3500, but was too far away.. so chose the other solution)
3) The Mlsia Highway Petrol will appear.. (guarantee very fast, out of nowhere), the call the tow service that they have.
4) If mobile repair van appear, you can discuss with him or totally reject him if you choose the above options.
5) Call relative or friends in malaysia... seek advice, wait.. and also waiting for other possible 'happenings'
6) if still can drive, drive slowly to nearest rest point along the highway... stopping by the shoulder is super dangerous... i guarantee you that...
7) Call your singapore workshop and make arrangement.. cos your workshop might have mlsia connection.

the other possible options let other bros help out... arrigato.

Grab a spanner in your hand, keep nicely your valuable item, whack anyone come near you before they rob you.

Most important is all passenger must alight from car and stay in place away from roadside. Some kuku driver from behind like to use 3rd lane to overtake.
