Non PML workshops & new car warranty

Hi,

Does anyone knows whether would there be any potential claims problems in the future if I choose to service my car at non PML workshops, while the car is still under warranty.
I'm afraid that PML will not honour the warranty if anything goes wrong or parts need to be changed as I did not bring it back to them for the usual oil changes, inspections and software updates.

Also, would the non PML workshops have the periodic software updates from BMW HQ, something that we take for granted everytime we send our car back to PML?

I was thinking of not bringing my car back to PML for servicing because of the cost and also, they tend to balk and falter when you try to ask them to solve additional problems, besides the usual oil servicing.

Thanks

1. yes you may have problems with PML when you need to claim warrenty. they will overlook it only if the CSA is nice but ball's in their court.

2. maybe. but they'll surely be slower to update.or maybe none at all. but still your car will run.

3. outside service is definitely more personalised and cheaper but it's not fair to PML if you still decide to claim warrenty after bringing your car outside, since the warrenty agreement signed in black and white stated that they'll only look after your car if no one else has touched it, which is only fair.

If u read the manual in the car, it states that warranty will only be honoured if the car is regularly maintained by BMW approved workshop and by skipping the inspection or the servicing schedule, will result an void in warranty.

I suggest u keep the scheduled inspection and servicing to PML while the interim one can be carried out at outside workshop if u prefer but just don reset the count down timer.
