:laughlik: Damn as i talk to more n more hiadess driving diff cars, not only BMWs, I finally understand why modding is a one-lead-to-another process.

OK how many of you driving 335 have procede your car and up the HP/Torque. Lets just say almost all of you:) . That $2.5k. What do you do next....buy a set of expensive light forged rims which cost you between $4k to $8k:yummie: plus say a set of CSC3 or PS2 tyres which will add another $2500 to $2800. Now u got yr power and torque. Ah...but u need brakes....so look for a BBK now !:nehnehhh: Another $10k.

Assuming u havent even thought about ARB and Coilovers, which some of u could do without.....damage is close to $22k to $25k:yikess:

Re: No wonder they say car mods is a bottomless pit

err ... that's parts and labour only.

The worst is when you test and don't like it, you change here and change there, the time and effort, can easily double or triple the cash involved.

I know that you bought your 335 already, it is a fast and feel good car, leave it stock if the spending don't turn you on.

From the mouth of a super modder, even more crazy than a lot of people I know: I need to buy a rear drive car which is track ready and not so expensive, which is limited to (for his budget) RS4, R8, Cayman 2.7 or 3.4, 911 C2S and GT3, Nissan GTR, 350Z high spec, STI Spec C.

Re: No wonder they say car mods is a bottomless pit

Not necessarily in that order. I started with handling (suspension, sways) and brakes. Wheels and exhaust are aesthetic. Power can tune later. Unless the first drive you think 306/400 not adequate.

I think everything is relative. The US guys got their cars cheap, but they mod like crazy. % terms spent on modding is phenomenal. Even some JDM cars are mod-crazy in % terms. I know of an Evo 8 from C&C - owner spent at least S$50K on it. Uncle J......

To many, it might not make sense. But to the fanatics.......

Re: No wonder they say car mods is a bottomless pit

Or you can drive a stock car....... but Beng, nowadays even people mod their laptops or HPs with wraps..........

Re: No wonder they say car mods is a bottomless pit

nothing wrong with stock car, yeah ...

BTW elma can you please send your oil for analysis? See how much silicon wear induced by your Procede? LOL jokin'. Anyway you might not keep your car so long ....

Re: No wonder they say car mods is a bottomless pit

mod is confirm must mod.....

but is how fast. kenn is super fast! first week 90% modded liao

Re: No wonder they say car mods is a bottomless pit

Any car enthusiast will break down their mod-list into the following areas : chassis/handling/brakes, engine/power/performance/exhaust, aesthetics/interior/exterior, ICE......

Unless there aren't parts, even the supercars owners will mod. From Porsches to Mazda. No logic if you apply economic sense, but what the heck? What matters is character given to the car - YOURS !!! You modded your own car with your tastes. No particular reason. Your priority rules. You want power, go for it. You wanna look like you have power, go for it. You wanna it to be loud, go for it. As long as you are not over-stretched financially, conned or borrowed $$$ just to finance the game. I dun see anything wrong with it.

Re: No wonder they say car mods is a bottomless pit

utterly agreed, Ken!

The car is great stock, mod if you please. Don't let fear rule you!

Just that, if the $$$ is getting crazy, and if you really think that eventually the $$$ will be considered, then think carefully before starting. Because it is continual.

Re: No wonder they say car mods is a bottomless pit

ABD, that's your interpretation of how u would mod your 335...

Still got bodykit or widebody... special spray job also can... Quaife LSD, blah blah blah... the list continues on and on and on! There will always be an excuse to mod the car, irregardless of the marque! :)

Agreed on the smart $$$ part, especially on performance mods. I think what matters most is prioritising over the yield. There are many snakeoil products out there that promised fuel economy, more power and what not. Even $$$ is not a concern, what matters is smart modding, not spending a ton of $$$ and not getting the car to move a second faster or save a litre of petrol more. Art is to differentiate farked-up con-jobs out there against real stuff.

On aesthetic and ICE, very subjective. To each his own. If you appreciate music, spending $15K or $20K on an ICE system is not deemed excessive. If you wanna "zhng" your ride, why not?

On handling and brakes, I think BMW's can be improved.

Re: No wonder they say car mods is a bottomless pit

ABD
I have officially stopped modding.

Any money I spend on mods means less money for the next car........as for individuality, just go for an unusual colour......
