Nifty feature in F30

Starting this thread for owner to share what nifty feature you found in your new F30... Saw similar thread in F30post forum, but thought maybe to start one specific to SG spec here so owner & potential owner can read-up.

Can't afford any info yet coz haben collect car yet, but was dying to find out if the i-drive/Navigation screen can play video from ipod/iphone or online via youtube

Does the navigation provide live traffic info, e.g. jam/roadworks etc, so the navigation will re-route... saw one advertiser retrofitting idrive 2011 have these, so wondering does factory unit have them too!

P/S: please don't flame me

The oem GPS is nothing much to shout abt, its not user friendly and if u dunno ur way thru, can b a hassle using it. PML for sure wun be able to earn my $$ for the updates, I'll opt for aftermarket ones whahahhahaa :lol::lol:

Re: Nifty feature in F30

This is something I never understand.

Major car manufacturers should work with Garmin (the only gps that works) to integrate within factory info-tainment system, as opposed to having these proprietary gps that are pretty useless

Garmin already have the OEM solution GVN 54... upto car manufacturer to decide to partner or not... Jaguar, Chevrovlet, Kenwood already done it :whattheh:

I only manage to get free Garmin maps (from Garmin, MSM, MFM)... realised other brand will never be as good, but I'm really lazy to take out the portable unit... so if can plan the route on my computer (which I normally do) and if could just send the info directly to the car, or at least can use googlemap search in the car and just set as destination and just let the on board navigation to agar agar get to destination good enuf liao... for compricated places, always need to have Garmin backup :D

BMW already support this in their latest iteration of Connected Drive / Assist. Using the Google send to car and iPhone app. However in Singapore the LTA hasn't and I was told won't approve it for local use. I tried to option it when I ordered my car but the only allowable options are Internet / BMW media connect 6NF option code. 6NR would give you all the toys and connectivity to control elements of your car using the iPhone app.

sighz... why must RTTI be part of BMW Assist, why can't it be stand alone... :biggun:

or... logic would say, part of navigation!

... do you guys connect ipod classic to the car? i'm guessing die die must have the y-cable? since I read & read, only with 6NR option (BMW assist again) then can use the standard ipod (white) usb cable

Think I am slow but I can play music off my iphone after pairing it to my F30 via Bluetooth. No need for cable. Haha.

Can BMW work with Stark Industries to install JARVIS into their cars going forward? :D

never play with i-drive before but when i pair phone with computer, still have to select songs on the phone... so with idrive, you select song/playlist using the phone or the idrive controller?

i'm just kancheong spider, I probably will find out all of these myself by end of the week :D

It appears that I have to choose a playlist and then I can control what songs to play using idrive. Once the playlist is done, I have to use the phone to go to another playlist. Of course, one thing is to play all content and skip using idrive on the move.

But I may be wrong. May have other ways around it. Which variant did you get? 335?

hmm... I guess need some time to get intimate with the system... hopefully it doesn't scare me like the blackberry does to me recently!

Re: Nifty feature in F30

Iphone connect to idrive through cable or cradle=able to display album art, select playlist, search track etc etc through idrive

Iphone connect to idrive through bluetooth=need to access most functions through phone
