welcome iki... lol i was in same position as u a year ago, getting a 2nd hand 05 320i (also first car of my own) and experimenting with the good stuff.

in about 6 months' time, should u start to feel bored with ur stock ride (i'm assuming the car that u took over is mostly running on stock parts) like i did, let me know... i'll feed u the antidote to cure your itch =P

Bro, it sounds more like you will be giving him more poison than antidote. But I like +1:lol2: :lol2:

Re: Newbi Newbi

Yes its current as STOCK as you can get....maybe except for the CAR MAT i bought from Autobacs! :)

And i am resisting going down that path ! I heard its usually a path of no return...!

But...to the gurus out there...is there like THE ONE THING one should change in a 3 year 320i ....??

Bro, I no guru, but if you are resisting too much mod, a few things are still necessary:

1. Good Air filter
2. Spark plugs
3. check your suspension, may need to change

Above are important.

Cosmetic-wise, if you are a die-hard stock person, nothing. But you are into a little asthetics, then: Rims(preferbly 17" - 18"), body kit(especially the front) and lights.

Jux my 2 cents worth

Cheers

cheapest + must-do mod imo is air filter. get hurricane filter... for $120-$150 (depending on where u get it) u get a significant increment to performance + FC. stock paper filter just doesnt cut it.

if ur backside is still itching after that, we will talk more...

btw... i am getting a sense of deja vu here.

2 months ago i was contented to let my car stay stock. told myself just save $$ for apartment / upgrade to another ride in couple years.

then after visiting this forums, decided to head down to one of the recommended workshops on one saturday morning, more out of curiosity than anything else. perhaps to improve on my technical knowledge as well...

end result of first visit: 1 x hurricane air filter, 4 x brisk spark plugs. seems like an innocent start...

after drawing first blood, it's kinda hard to stop then and there... changed out rims to 18" and did ignition upgrade and drop-in air scoop at r2d immediately the next week.

then i told myself i needed an exhaust to complete my performance upgrades... ok lah this came about 2 weeks later.

now telling myself i need a bodykit to complete the look, otherwise everything i have done b4 will still make my car look like any of the stock 320i on the roads. as luck would have it, there's a m-aerokit in stock, so didnt have to wait 1 - 2 months for the kit to be shipped over. took that as a sign of divine approval for my mod, so installed the kit over a period of 2 weeks.

just so happened that as i was installing the kit, a bro that i met at the workshop told me he had a lobang for cf lip splitters to match my new front bumper. he also had a used strut bar that he would sell to me as a package deal. took that offer. and since i was already going for the cf look, got myself cf grilles as well to replace the all too common chrome.

so that's my story thus far... and it is still not completed (lowering/reflashing/exhaust mods yet to be done!). i don't know what the moral of the story is for u. wanna join me to find out??  if not, here's hoping u have more discipline than i did and to know when to stop =P

bmw stock brakes generally produce a lot of brake dust as it is more aggressive than stock brakes from other marques. one day u will be thankful for that =P

to cut down on the brake dust, u can change ur brake pads to ebc green stuff (r2d carries them) or cool carbon pads (from boss). these pads give u better bite than the stock ones too.

Re: Newbi Newbi

anything you do may affect warranty.. depends on how ngiao the agent is..

talking about brakes.. got 335 brakes for 320 being peddled on the forums now.. piggyboyz has 1 set on sale..

kaiser and iki, can consider that. esp if you're not too keen on bbk, but want bigger rotors still.. :D

Its a better idea to buy slot in filters like K&N, if you are worried about warrenty issues

Sori, forgot to answer your 2nd question.

Ok, there is a post on the forum detailing the types for brake pads(total 4). U can read it up.... veri informative.

From wat I understand, stock pads are made of non-abestos mineral material, and apparantly, the material give very good grip but also give very big amt of dust.

If your budget is loose, and if you are willing to pay between 30 - 40% more, go for ceramic pad.... pads only hor.

Even much better grip than stock and low dust, plus a lot less noisy

Cheers

Re: Newbi Newbi

Plus,

Go for a nice bodykit if you haven't got a set yet

Of course, how to resist a good pair of new exhausts.

18" rims will be nice; like want bro Mke318i mentioned

how abt Carbon Fibre emblems in exchange of your stock blue-white badge

for more power, if you dont want to do re-flash, change to light-pulley instead of your stock pulley... Bro AC323 recommended.... I am sure it works(he is good)

Of course warrenty is no issue liao, re-flash...... better still TC it(short for Turbo-charge)

More to come

Cheers
