New to BMW. Where to get accessories?

Hi. I'll be a new BMW car owner quite soon so still new to where the lobangs are for getting BMW stuffs.

Anyone can tell me where is the good accessory shop (sells good quality accessories)? I'm looking for wind deflectors for windows and maybe windshield sunshade (custom fit). I'm also looking for original side/rear window visors/blinds at discounted price (ie. cheaper than what PML is selling).

I also have some questions about BMW parts and warranty.

a. I was told that only PML and MA are authorised to claim parts under warranty. is this correct? If so, does this mean we are stuck with servicing at PML for first 3 years?

b. Any BMW owners who have kept their cars for a super long time? eg. 7yrs and above? Do you find BMW cars reliable? ie. as long as you send for regular servicings, the car should not break down on the road.
Also, in between regular servicings, the car does not need unscheduled repairs much.
I have owned Saab cars before and the car has stalled on the highway on 2 occasions over first 5 years.
I have also owned MINI Cooper/S and there were alot of unscheduled servicings/repairs.
My recent ride is an E class - it was perfect - other than changing bulbs, there were no unscheduled repairs and no breakdowns at all.

c. which are the good workshops to go to? ie. not expensive and knows which parts to change during servicings and not one of those who only change parts when either car system highlights it or when the part actually breaks down (too late!). To date, I gather the popular ones are J4C, BVO, JDM .. correct?

d. I'm thinking of getting an aftermarket installation of features not available in my stock F10 - Surround View, Park Assist, Heads Up Display. Has anyone done an aftermarket install before? When car is sent to PML for servicing, do they immediately declare overall warranty is void?

So many questions ... paiseh.
Thanks to all for teaching me the ropes on BMW!

J: Go and see our site sponsors. It's more fun to find yourself. Then you will realize actually got more stuff to buy!

I also have some questions about BMW parts and warranty.

J: Technically yes.

J: Subjected to driver. If you don't mod and follow a good schedule of maintenance and w/t change, any car can go the distance.

Re: New to BMW. Where to get accessories?

I've not decided on all of them - just wanted to know the costs and servicing issues first. As long as car is problem free, I would normally want to keep my car for 10years. As such, I would prefer to put in enough gadgets to make the car exciting to last me that duration. I don't want to be tempted by newer cars just because of some tech features which my car doesn't have.

that's tough. in 5 years time cars will probably new gadgets that you can't retrofit.

BMW car is T H E toy. BMW needs to be driven hard to be enjoy. It is nvr about HUD or surroundview.

Re: New to BMW. Where to get accessories?

surround view and hud is cool but park assist is useless. use it than 3 time in the first year and after first year none at all. unless u r really bad at parallel parking but you also need skill to activate the surround view.
maybe go for sound system and nbt upgrade and new digital display better with front led headlight conversion and 20 rims follow by exo n bkk n bodykit then do unitl nothing to do liao wrap or respray car then finally, start to drool at the new 5 series and begin all over again.
sorry forgot still can change newer m steering and interior panel and perhaps m or comfort seat as well as headliner and m5 interior conversion. still have tok abt suspension change or lowering spring and juicebox follow by emblem change and led fog light change and license plate change. after that all done bo liao can do some new coding to make the drl shine brighter and hazard light euro style and make your rear aircon more powerful.....shld let you be very busy for 1 year.
opps forgot can tint and retint the window and new leather wrap when the car gets older....
cannot believe our car can do so many things... i m amazed.

I have a spare set of LED fog light bulb for the latest BMW models at $90 for a pair, this is pure white while the original is halogen(drains the battery). The white LED fog light will match the pure white head lamps, thanks. Ho 9o698386
