New BMW ///M3 on track (video)

Re: New BMW ///M3 on track (video)

ooo... thanks for posting this ABD! The sound of the engine and screech of the tyres just makes me tingle! It's always exciting to watch a powerful car in action on the track :)

Wonder what the commentator was saying though?

Re: New BMW ///M3 on track (video)

the car looks heavy...carrying a lot of weight into the bends....looking like 1.6 ton at least...

Re: New BMW ///M3 on track (video)

sounds good, but there seems to be quite a bit of roll through the corners.

Ah beng wished the commentator was speaking in hokkien instead. All I understand was 'high response' 'engine' 'chassis'....But like the other brader said, who give a damn what that commentary was about.....we just want to watch track action ....:)

why u say body roll leh? That new ///M3 looks very 'stable' with little body roll when it was going around a few of the corners....machiam like got adaptive driving suspension like that. Is this what I heard people called the new M-dynamics? Yeah it looks like a fat car.

Re: New BMW ///M3 on track (video)

orh, maybe the track's banked lor.

Re: New BMW ///M3 on track (video)

nice..but i somehow still prefer the E46 M..hee

Re: New BMW ///M3 on track (video)

So Ahbeng, it states 'V8 DOHC BI-VANOS 120PS/8000RPM. 6MT & 7SPEED SMG. 0-100KM/H @ 4.9SEC'.
I seriously think d 335 can Ta-pau d M3 flat..U reckon?
Then again, whats d 335 specs like a?

Then its the exact same weight of the outgoing 335i. If indeed, the outgogin V8 on the new M3 would be indeed same weight as the 3.2 M54 I6 engine, ceteris paribus.

Re: New BMW ///M3 on track (video)

I think the specs in the video is not accurate. They even call this the E93! When its an E92 ...so boyz n gals just watch the video. Maybe the japanese commentator was a toyota owner :lol2:

Power wise, I think BMW screwed up abit in offering a 335i which makes it rather difficult to sell the M3 bcos the 335i can go fast n torque is quite close for a car much cheaper and also a BMW. But this is the world of competition bcos they need(in USA I read) the 335i to wipe away the competition from LEXUS IS350(305BHP). 335i BHP is 306 so just 1 extra horsee:screwedu: altho I also read the 306 is capped so indeed a lot more poweful the 335i is. Likewise the AUDI RS4 is 425BHP so the new M3 is rumoured at 426BHP..:lol2: again 1 extra horsie:screwedu: just to beat the competition. I know BMW is more than capable of making far stronger engines but then suppose thye make an M3 with say 460-470 BHP, it will be too close to M5...another fark-up!

Yeap, thats d thing wit d latest BMWs. They all have equal powers & also sizes. Unlike d older models where 7er was for Papa Bear, 5er for Mama Bear & 3er was for Baby Bear - u get wat i mean..
Guess BMW's main objective & concerns r competing wit other makes.

i agree. THe badge which BMW though would sell by itself with sub-standard equipment is now being rivalled intensely by Japanese makes. Now its either being very competitive or falling behind in the dust. Simply no more room for mistakes now.

The handling looks superbly balanced, v nice.
Looks like this time the car sits lower than its predecessor.

The V8 sounds great, roar n rumble.

1.6 tonnes is almost definite. E46 M3 is already 1575kgs...needs alot of diet.

Yes the new M3 will be a heavier car, but not necessarily clumsier than the current one.

The V8 will be shorter for sure, and it will sit further back behind the axle a-la 350Z style, almost in a Front Mid Ship configuration.

Re: New BMW ///M3 on track (video)

agreed, doesnt look clumsy from the vid
assuming 1625kg and 425bhp that equates to 260bhp per tonne ...swee2x

Re: New BMW ///M3 on track (video)

From the way I see the test driver attacking the corners, I see it to be a very well balanced car, very very typical of ///M Division, don't think the car looks the teeny bit heavy around the track at all, well atl east not from this footage. Engine sounds pretty darn good too... sounds like it's got more than enough torque than anything else!. I wanna see this against the C2S, now that will be something.
