New Bmer owner

Have just booked a FL/320i.

Can anyone recommend:-

1. Reverse camera and where to install? And what model is best?

2. Is it worthwhile to do the exterior coating e.g. Toughseal or Nano something?

Thanks in advance!

Re: New Bmer owner

welcome Ah Lian, my chinese middle name got Beng leh...keke

1) just checked for my Bro Larry, so might as well update u too.
Reverse camera with 3 inch display screen and labour quoted $300 by one of the accessories shop at Bt Merah Lane. (separate thing on its on, not linked to idrive)

2) if u can spare the cash, get the protection done, tuffkott and etc.
pay a bit more but a peace of mind in return especially if u are not those diligent at washing/polishing cars.

Re: New Bmer owner

May be if it is sensitive, can you PM me privately on which are the shops.

My previous ride I have built in GPS with reverse camera.

I don't mind paying for a "reliable" reverse camera. As in my previous ride, the reverse camera is the VDO brand and it properly reverses the image - so that what u see is exactly what u have.

My new FL is not a idrive.

Re: New Bmer owner

depends on your budget Lian.....u can even have those full-featured 1 din DVD/TV/reverse camera thing...depends on one's budget and needs.
i guess it can range from simple camera/display to GPS to highly prep ice setup.
if u need to see or try em out, i think your best bet is Autobacs Ubi....they have a newly done up section for that. i say see only ah...not buy...keke cos can get cheaper outside...

Re: New Bmer owner

Thanks again for the quick response!

No I don't a fantastic system. Something is mounted onto the window next to the rear view mirror. And what one see is what one gets!

For example, in a normal camera, the image is exactly what one sees. But in a reverse camera, I believe the image can be reversed.

Just need a trusty reliable, - heat resistant, rain resist one at a reasonable price will do. Nothing fantastic no need 1 DIn type... Thanks!:))

Re: New Bmer owner

alot of accessories shop have that....the prices are more or less the same unless they really take u for cai tao which u should then politely decline and walk away.

Steve,

How much does toughseal cost?

Re: New Bmer owner

Wow! I am totally impressed with your forum! And all the warm hospitality!

I glad I bought the right ride! With so much friendly advice and support!

Frankly, Singapore is small, so every location is fine with me. Other than going to Tuas area!

Just want a hassle free - relatively reliable one will do. Price consideration is not that high on my mind.

Does anyone use the nano something paint protection or no need for this Bmer.

Re: New Bmer owner

BTW, I read with concern that we have to take note of some car park humps?

Does a standard 320i or 320i professional have to be concerned of car park humps or only those that lowered their height? Appreciate, any advise on this? If so, which car park is "Jia-lat" one... for this car....

Re: New Bmer owner

there's no need to be afraid of most humps unless u go lower your ride.
However, there are some nasty carparks u have to take note of; eg. bugis junction carpark entrance/exit facing National Libray, Millenia walk carpark (imagine going downhill and kena hump).

i think omar or some bros posted a "carparks to avoid" thread.
anyone got the link?

for ah lian, i think u better go get ppl to do...or else spoil the paintjob on your fingernails then have to do toughcoat pedicure liao...:lol2:

Have done the toughseal on my ride...about 5 months so far...and the shine is still there...minimal maintenance...just normal wash ...the service by Patrick (the Boss) had been meticulous.....he understands Bimmer owners...very "anal" also cause his own ride is 523!!!... parked at Toughseal..can go see and no obligation...

Its better to use it to keep your car's original paint intact, else kanna bird shit or whatever cat urine.. the paint quality gets eroded - jialat... not nice liao.

I use PPS formula by 3mendouz Pte Ltd located at 51 Bukit Batok Crescent, call Andy@97442954 - good service and warranty for 18months.

Some of the dudes here uses similar PPS/Nano technology at different service centres which charges similar rates with similar warranty and service coverage..
