Hi guys, just got my 320i jet black for 2 weeks plus now and wondering any good suggestion on protecting the paintwork...hehe.... it looks so nice when polish but found it so difficult to up keep.

Any aftermarket treatment that can give protection esp. against stratches? Good reliable one....

How do you guys keep your car glossy shine all the time....?

Thanks.....:)

Bro why not consider sending your ride for polishing? you can try spa for cars

A couple of things to note:

(1) Your ride is black - swirlmarks are your worst enemy. Do NOT wash your car in those petrol stations. Wash it yourself, or with reputable groomers. I scorn those shopping-centre-basement-operations type of groomers - cause they do not wash your car thoroughly. Go check it out if they even have water points nearby (floor is dry - how did they wash your car?).

(2) For swirlmarks removal, I will vote for Spa 4 Cars.

(3) For longer term protection against UV and harsh weather, you can try apply sealant. I can only recall Tough Seal. I have not engage them, but views vary......

(4) Day-to-day or week-to-week maintenance, wash it frequently especially after rain. Watch for things like tree gum, birds' dropping and stuff like that, which could potentially eat into your paintwork. If I ran out of time, I will rush down to CazcomP (they carry Zaino Bros products) for a quick wash. No other way to maintain that shine if you do not put in effort.

Thanks guys for the recommendation. Heard of 3mendouz shine too? What does spa 4 cars do? The polish or wax? I thought we don't normally polish but wax most of time as polish remove layers off our clear coats.....?

Thanks again.... :juggle:

Not heard of it.

Advice on car grooming is very subjective.

Same analogy as you walk into a coffee shop and try to pick your lunch. Only after you have tried then can you tell if you have picked the right stall and if the food is good. If good, you might or might not stick to the same stall the next time. If you stick to it, then you will not know if the next stall is better. If bad, definitely not a second time. But if many of your friends tell you one stall is a "must try," then it will be natural if you try.

Spa 4 Cars is a groomer. Perhaps no difference to any other groomers, but their skills in buffering out the swirlmarks is well-known in this forum.

Again, no way to answer your question on polishing or waxing, since everyone's perspective of a well-maintained car is different. There are cars that look glossy, but could not withstand closer scrutiny. There are others that look ordinary, but on closer examination it shows no fade and no swirlmarks. Even every shop will tell you a different story.

I would say give spa for cars a try. I am on their treatment, once every 3 months and even ants cant walk on my car body...kekeke. Tell them a chao ah beng gia recco u lah. My car is silver, new one will be black too and they told me they could do up black cars just as well. I ve seen some black cars being done at their outlet. Pretty good.

Oh u had 2 weeks of car life liao, u shld have send it to get car protection the moment it leaves the showroom, cos thats what I did as a kiasu SGrean....kekekekekekekeke

Re: New black 320i how to protect shine & scratches?

hi there
very subjective and the choice depends on your preference and lifestyle at the end of the day; are you the anal type? are you busy all the time? do you wish to do it yourself? do you like wax vs synthetic polymers or sealants.. you have to go see it.
I had a black ride once. I did like zaino on it but somehow the swissol wax made the shine deeper, more natural, covered the swirls better and more durable. This was about 3 years ago. Now Zaino has quite a few products that help protect the shine and is pretty durable. The best part is that everytime my hand gets itchy, i can always do it myself. It is subjective.
The key thing is regular maintenance ie. how you wash, when you wash your ride. The most important thing to watch out for are water marks- that is the worst.
