New 520i

Just bought a 520i, collecting in 2 weeks time. Kind of disappointed when I was told that that it comes with 16" style 242. Was looking around for a rim change to no avail, until I saw the M166! One word - STEAM!

Was told by the parts dept that it will cost me $6.5K with CSC2 (245/40/19) tyres after trading in my 16" rims. Couldn't bare to part with this.... :-(

Any bros/sis here have purchase the M166 replicas, pls let me know where to get them. Thanks alot.

I believe for 19", it should be around $350 per piece for the replicas.... Was also quoted 19" CSC3 for $550 per piece....not sure if it was over price?

Re: New 520i

PML 6.5k...wakaka...dont bother! way overpriced.....get from site sponsors kenntona or orhlulu for DPE at that kinda price..

m166 very heavy..i physically carried it w/o tires and was shocked..
i advise u to get lighter rims since u r on a 2.0 litre engine with a heavy body...

Re: New 520i

go DPE....they are nice and well engineered.

go and have look, it is indeed very nice and lighter

hmmmnnn... for the CSC3, I was quoted ~$600 for the 235/35/19 and ~$700 for 265/30/19. Your $550 seems reasonable to me now.

Any bros know if the prices quoted to me is reasonable? Thanks.

Woods - congrats on ur new ride.

Thks bro... believe my $550 from leong seng was 245/40/19. so urs 235/35/19 should make sense.

Re: New 520i

Wondering if anyone has a M5 style 166 replica rims? Need more details on where to get it. Would really like to take a look at ur rims. Thanks.

Re: New 520i

the M166 replica is drop dead heavy and some batch got wobbling problem.. looks wise u cannot the the difference at all

stick with originals...

btw the parts department offer you 245/40/19 for M166 on ur car?

ask him fk spider... its has to be 245/35...else u will rub like nobody's business

Re: New 520i

btw there are 2 types of M166 replicas... one is taiwanese one is italian..

only touch the italian... they look alike.. just that they are heavier..

the taiwanese one dont have such an aggresive offset like the italian ones...not exact replica... and colour is slightly darker..

Re: New 520i

Thanks Terry, for the advice. Collecting my ride tomorrow....

Re: New 520i

Congrats Woods. I too paid $550 for CSC3. I did a quick and dirty chck with a couple of other places, and they quoted above $600. Hope this helps.

Enjoy!

Saw both the Taiwan and the italian one. Taiwan one is somehow darker in shade. Italian ones are more ex. However, I came to notice there is also Thaliand ones! Finish better than the taiwanese... price in between. Anyone care to comment?

Tyres & rims are the only things holding you to the ground. So, IMHO best to spend a bit more and get more reputatable ones. That said, some reputable manufacturers do have factories in Thailand or Taiwan and have good QC system in place ... but be aware.
Just like almost all electronic applicances now made in China, but under supervision of reputable principals.
