Agreed agreed, my current amp is not able to fully untilise the potential of my dynaudios speaker.......... :(

I second iceman on lanzar opti.

ulujungleboy,
its better to have but wouldnt die if dont have. Depends on how particular u are. BMW door is such that speakers are mounted on a door panel and then the panel is fixed on the door itself. ITs been suggested that even if u have all sorts of soundproofing, u cant eliminate abit of vibration cos of how the door is set up.
Unless like wat some enthusiast do overseas...they cut the door itself, and do major work on it such that the speakres no longer are mounted on the panel, but on the door itself...

Orion 8002 (2x200 @ 4 ohms) for front mids
Orion 4004 (4x50 @ 4 ohms) for front tweets and rear speakers
Orion 1200D (1x1200 @ 1ohm) for sub

I got these as its bang for buck. New generation of Orions offer more watts for the money, but I think its designed/tested in USA, and assembled in Korea.

Next week the fun begins... How to cram all this in a small boot. :errr:

Whoa hoa....going active ? I like the Orions...looks nice also. Jus wondering, why dont u parallel the 4004 into 2ch just for the front tweets , and leave the rear speakers alone since its for rearfill only ?

pls post some pics when its done....found an installer ? or DIY ?

Hi,

Would this be considered a active setup?
Actually I'm going to swap my PG amp to run my front speakers @250WX2
That would leave me with my audison VR404 40W X 4Ch amp doing nothing. Iceman, do you think I could follow the same setup as yours? I have an audiocontrol EQL for tuning.

Thanks
Jason

Can't. I have a habit... need rear fills to be powered. Thought of using HU power, but that just makes tuning more of a hassle. If eveything is powered by amps and connected to a DSP, then my presets can control every speaker. No need to individually tune rear fill. In the future, I got some evil plans for them, so have to reserve some amplification channels for the rear.

Will be using the Alpine PXA701 for tuning... and using back the original HU for time being. Until my dream Alpine HU comes in...

Dream unit? The F1 status? or 9855?

You mean you wanna go active? You need a crossover. I guess you can always do it, as the amps will have some built in.

Audison 4x40 for front tweets, rear fill.
PG 2x250 for front mids.
JBL 1200.1 for sub.
EQL for tuning.

So... does the EQL spilt the HU signal into front/mid/sub? Can't remember the capabilities. If you go active, you may not have enough RCA outputs to handle that, from the EQL. HU hi-level into EQL. EQL needs to branch out:

1. Front tweeter L/R
2. Front mid L/R
3. Rear fill L/R
4. Sub L/R

IVA-D301. 7" Touchscreen control... can play hi-fidelity audio, DVD, connect to TV mobile, rear view camera...

Best part is that it controls the PXA701 time alignment, 31 band EQ, 8 ch crossover by touchscreen.

But damn expensive man...

Hi,

Not too sure about the capabilities of the EQL. What time will you be at HG that Monday?

Cheers
Jason

Yep. You need the RUX 701 for tuning.

But if you got the IVA-300, you can access the functions directly.

I'm getting the RUX701 controller, but using only for 1.5 months... until IVA-301 comes in. Hmmm... come to think of it.. quite wasted.

Re: Need installer contact and speaker supplier

Nice meeting Powertorque and Rebture yesterday. One needs bass to accompany light music, the other one needs a back pounding.

I wish you: From this day on, go forth in discovery of better music with bottomless pocket!

You have been warned of the additive nature of ICE.

Re: Need installer contact and speaker supplier

Thanks to iceman for his patient advice and recommendation, my sub is being installed even as I write this. Looking forward to hearing some bass in my music at last. Finally getting to hear music as it should be...it's been too long......

iceman, thanks too for the audition of your car's sound system. AWESOME!!!!

Bottomless pocket I have not, which is a reason why I set out to prove (more to myself) that one can get decent sound in a car with a reasonable budget. Of course, the pursuit of excellence never ends and a bottomless pocket will be a good thing to have!

will post an update once i get the car back......

P.S. the duck rice was superb.....another excellent recommendation :)

yes yes....pls post !! Congrats man...but hopefully dont let the bass overwhelm your fronts. Ge the installer to pull the bass to the front... !! u change your front components i hope ?!!

Re: Need installer contact and speaker supplier

Powertorque has very yummy stuff in front. DLS component speakers and Genesis amp to drive it.

He has chosen the venerable Sony XES M3 amp to drive the woofer.

Its like a classy country club that is getting a new bowling alley with heated swimming pool. the next thing is a glitzy restuarant and members lounge. (HEADUNIT!!!) Hahahha
