Hi guys...need help on rims n i am quite new here. Always love to browse the forum and get more knowledge from you guys. I saw lots of people talking about Dpe rims n seldom has japan rims around here.. Wanted to change my rims to 19 inch and saw a place selling japanese rim ( 19') but the rim is make of 2 piece joining together.. Is there anything wrong with it or is it common...??? Any diff between jap and dpe rims? Hope you guys can enlightening me a bit... Thanks

2 piece or 3 piece rims are produced by rim co so they can tailor the width and offset of the rim to suit any particular car. In general they are lighter compare to the mono block version (maybe except forged rim)
I think because BM is conti make so less japan brand make rim for it. (I maybe wrong) Regardlessly as long as you get from decent brand (jap or not) should not be a problem. Make sure the offset and width fit.

Thank you very much Ody_2004. was wondering why there are two piece in a rim...Never seen it before cos last time driving the jap car and only change rim to 18" ( Taiwan rims) . Oh By the way, Do u or any one here know where actually can i find ex-stock for Dpe rims... Maybe i will want to compare with the japanese rims....

ACU is a german boy with jap shoes. and i liked it that way. of course if can get custom is best. dpe, hre, iforged are more well know 2 or 3 piece custom wheel builder. most jap wheel maker are more mass production. be it cast, forged, mono, 2, or 3 piece. generally more well known jap wheels are RAYS, BBS Japan, Schmieden Indivi, NEEZ etc.
whatever u getting, u have to consider what's your priority.

cost
good luck on your search.

Thanks acupunch. Will do a check on the brands you mentioned... The rims guy ask me to change to chrome type....He said very chio ley... but i scared that it look 'beng' Very chrome ley... a bit like too outstanding ley....Still wandering....

which wheels is most depending on your taste. chrome lip wheels is hard to maintain. it may look mirror finish the moment u put it on but if you don't had the patient to take care of it. it will soon become brush metal finish. whether its DPE, HRE or iFORGED its the same for chrome lips.mike211;375228 said:

Three considerations.
One, forged versus cast alloys.
Two, the weight - self explanatory.
Three, the character - since you are modding, your car should carry your character. Else all cars will be using the same wheels !!! A tad too boring if you ask me.
As for the rest of the considerations like maintenance, it is really a matter of choice, taste and preference. Silver car colour is easiest to maintain, but I am seeing more alpine white and sapphire black BMWs around. Reason? They have more character !!! Harder maintenance from dirt and swirlmarks and what-not, people will still buy these chio colours. So, bottomline is .........
Buy what you like, as long as it has its practical values.
Oh, and be different, if you wanna mod.

Thanks Kenntona for your suggestions. My car is Monoco blue. Really not sure what rims to go with cos too many to choose from. Some ask me to go all chrome but maybe not my types(character) cos find it too obvious (outstanding) . Saw a fews of your thread and believed you import DPE rims? Do u hold any stocks so i can view it? If Yes you can PM me your place( shop)? Price also seems very competitive......Sorry if i make mistake....
