Need advice: to sell or to mod

Hi all bros here, what's your advice on this:
Have a 4.5 years 318 pre-FL, wanted to sell and buy a 320 or 325 in-line 6 (after reading all the poison here regarding how good is the in-line 6 engine, feel itchy already).
Scrap value is 59.5K, one dealer offered 66K, that is 6.5K only for the body !! Seems very low to me, or am I expecting too much?

Now, is it advisable to sell at 66K then buy a 320i, or better of spending some money modding the 318i. Can the 318 be close to 320 after modding?

Bro, even if the actual car body is worth say $10k, u gotto take into a/c the 7% comm the dealer will want for giving u back the paper value since u are not using your paper to buy a new car. The 7% is to compensate for the so called the risk of the dealer in holding on to your paper. If u want, try to bargain for slightly more or call up those exporters listed in ST classified to get a better feel. To me, it is not so much abt modding coz the engines are worlds apart, especially if yours is the 1.9L non-valvetronic version. The driving sensation is already different. No matter how u mod, performance wise the 318 will not come cloase to the 320.

6k for body is too low.. should be gg for around 12k for your model..

Sorry to hear that, bro. The body value is way low. FYI, I exported my PFL 318i in May for a body value of $13.5 k.

As for your decision, it makes more sense to switch out and buy a FL 320. Dun flame me for this, but if you plot the graphs of the prices of a used PFL 318 versus a used E46 FL 320, the price differential is probably the lowest at this point.
