1st) Could i install DEFI meters in the BMWs?
2nd) What kind of exhaust (aftermarket) could i look at (legal)?
3rd) BodyKit's, the 'M' kit from Performance Motor looks good, any other recommendations?
4th) What exactly is the model number for this new "3rd Series" selling at PML now?
5th) What kind of modifications could i look at in regard to 'increment' of both Torque/HorsePower?

First and foremost... Welcome...

1. Defi meters can be installed in all cars but it depends on the amount of work you would like to do to install the necessary sensors.

2. Exhausts are really a tricky thing, depends on your budget and ability to take noise... ;)

3. I am sure if you are willing to buys coffee, the guys will gladly share with you a preview of cars.... :wavey:

4. Currently PML is selling the E46 Face lifted version, next year, the E90 should be rolling out in may/jun.

5. The sky's the limit, Superchargers, turbos, engine swaps...... need i say more.... oops... not supposed to say... :silenced: ...All illegal hor... :naughty:

BTW, how old are you? Why would a fairlady be seen as too flashy?

Yea man...Dunno but a bmw would still put u in a higner league compared to jap/korean car.

Wouldn't u save more dosh hangin onto ur 350Z? Much more power..

Is the Z33 model in yr country the same as Nissan's latest 350Z?
Latest I read there are 2 more track-tuned versions of the 350Z with even stiffer suspensions.
Its an awesome car, well built, great engine and relatively fast.
I'd stay with it if I were you. Don't think its that 'flashy'.

hi`

21 year old 'kid' here... thx for the quick responses and welcome...
Nah, on my current ride, time ain't an issue... And considering my current N1 muffler pipes, noise ain't an issue either.
Coffee on me ain't much of a problem either, provided you guys are free to entertain me, that's the main prob..
haha~

yea, i believe that a beemer may launch me into a totally different realm of modifications, but the safety perks in riding a German, instead of Japanese is 'life giving' yea? And despite the 'power' of the 350Z, unless a turbo-charger kit is installed, we Z's can't expect to out play heavly modified EVOs and SKYLINES.. thus...

but i greatly appreciate you guy's replies... would love to hear more and discuss too....

My country's Singapore, thou i ain't from here, i'm here now.... (confusing bit eh?)

Yup, the Z33 is indeed the 350Z, the Fairlady of Nissan...

not too flashy? i think it's WAYYYyyyyyy to flashy for my age, love it thou!!!

hello. first of all, dont change car just because you think it's flashy. There are many more "flashy" cars in unis and polys all over singapore. What about the P-plate Murcielago in NYP and his sister's F360 spyder in NUS? They've already booked the new F430 spyder so the NUS one could be the very first new spyder in singapore. Put into perspective, 350Z seems like a supermarket-run car isnt it. It's seriously too good a car to be wasted just coz you think it's too flashy.

But, if you've set your mind to change to a BMW, i'd suggest you wait maybe till middle of next year coz the new 3 series, E90, is coming out. The current E46 3 series is ending it's run very very soon and there's absolutely no point in getting it now. The ONLY reason I can think of for getting the E46 is engine mod.

ok qns answered:

1. Defi meters can be installed into the BMW. But please take note that special oil temp probe holders have to be custom-made, and drilled into the oil sump. Water temp probe can be fitted onto your existing bleed valve. rest of the usual readings like oil pressure, ext temp shouldnt be a problem too.

RPM and speed sensors are NOT compatible with our ECU, and no readings will be registered. That means your gearshift warning is useless. Unless you want to tap the rpm readings directly off the dash tacho, but it could be a lot of work. E46 engine bay is also a little too long for the given Defi wires, so you need to get low-resistance wires yourself to extend it.

If you really want to put in the Defi, then I'd assume it's coz you want to track your car. If your car is Auto, then you may want to have one in your torque converter. However the Defi Control Unit 2 only has 2 temp probe slots (not counting the ext temp) so you need to fashion a simple switch to read all the eng oil, water temp and TC temp. A lot of work, in short.

2. Current legal exhaust brands for BMW would be Supersprint, Remus, ACS, and i heard Hamann too.

3. Best looking kit, and most popular so far is the M-Aero II kit from BMW. BMW also has a few other kits, as well as aftermarket. For full list of aftermarket kits, click on the "Mods, tuner" links provided in our forum main page to see the kits in full in their own website. Hamann, ACS, Racing Dynamics, Kerscher, MVR, are a few seen around singapore.

4. E90

5. If you are looking at increasing bhp for the new E90, then I'd say forget it. The new E90 range is based fully on VALVETRONIC technology, an engine that does away with the conventional throttle butterfly. Despite the world community's best efforts for the last 3 years, nobody has been able to confidently come out with anything for the 4 and 8 cylinder valvetronic engines. The same 4 cylinder valvetronic (1.8, 2.0) will be used in the E90, and brand new 6 cylinder (2.5, 3.0) will be first used in the new 3 series too. Whatever horsepower you get off the brochure, you have to live with it. Thats the only saving grace in getting the current E46 3.0L. Power from 360-500bhp is available, and not too difficult to achieve too.

So, pls keep your 350Z. it's an excellent car. The best Nissan offering this side of the GTR.

And bro, if u gonna dump bodykit etc to your BM, then I dun see how it can be less flashy than the 350Z. Stick to the Z and enjoy the 3.5litre engine lah,

In SG, no average weight non-supercar (roughly half a million and under) can hope to "out play" the heavily modified Skylines.

new to this forum, and as my 'subject' has mentioned...

I'm currently driving a Nissan Fairlady Z33, been almost one and a half years, and honestly, deeply in LOVE with this car, however, i'm starting University in Jan, and i believe it's going to be too flashy a car to drive to school, thus (seeing my dad's been driving BM for yrs, recently bought the '6' series), i was thinkin of changing my Fairlady, to a more down-to-earth ride, and have the BMW's 3 series in mind. Thinking about either the 325ci, or 330ci... and i do have quite a few questions in mind that i hope i could be enlighten with...

Think this should be troublesome enough for some friendly soul to enlighten me for now,
replies greatly appreciated...

Dude,

Not many people can have a two door car (also 2 seat), if you're young and single,

Enjoy while you can!

When you grow up, want to enjoy also cannot liao.

Just my 2 cents (BTW, I've been dreaming about a Z since I layed eyes on it)

what about the civic.... muhahahahha the civic always wins.

Wow`

'RaceBred', your insightful advice's unbelievable... Yes, i have thought about this problem in regarding to the change of car for actually, quite a long time... (6months to be exact)

Been to PML, test-driven, chat wit my financial advisor (my Dad... hahaha) and stuff like that, only recently have i decided to approch the forum to seek advice...
Didn't wanna portray myself as some cocky young chap thou.... I agree, letting go of my 'wife' for a german bred might seem a waste, and further more, if body-kits and rims were changed for the Beemer, it wouldn't be less flashy as compared to the Z33, thus my decision to seek advice here...
:)

hopefully, i won't let go of my wife, but do wish to stay ard this forum, as it's rare for me to actually to receive so much advice in such short time...

BUT if i do find the day i may have to give up my wife, and join the German Breed, i believe i would enjoy the transition~

Regards,
Hong

(some chick in NUS drives a Fer? hell yea i'm single!)

Despite the great deal of money, time, and effort dumped onto Skylines in S'pore, i personally know a few who drives it just purely for it's looks, no mods even to rims... That's how stock they could be, but yea, Civic's some-how or nother, still rule the world of legal/illegal drag racing...

:)
