Navigation DVD so expensive?

I just got back from PML. Wanted to buy the 2010 Sg/Msia DVD for my E60.

The quote I got was a whopping $800!!! Since when did DVDs become so expensive???

PML quoted me $750 in Jan. Cheap!

I went to Challenger and got Garmin..$249.90. I gave $250 and asked the cashier to keep the change. I am very generous

PML is really living up to their reputation. They don't seem to believe in returning customers or building a strong client base.

One of the reasons I never bothered with iDrive. I've heard and read lots of stories about that system too.

Why the hell is it so expensive for a friggin DVD?? Anyway I told the parts guy thanks for your help, with that money I'll install a PS3 in my car instead......

Try to get "copied" copies. But we should talk off forum for this. Why?

Oh my god, that's some overpriced software right there.

I'd might as well get a netbook, a roaming data plan and just hook up with google maps. It still has bloody street view to boot!

i have the 2010 map version in my 1 month old 335. It doesnt even have the new tampines flyover. This road has been open for about a year no?

its in the IDrive. I don't think you can copy it off.

Just realized that it doesn't have the top of the KPE either. I was driving across a black abyss on the nav system last night.

How long has the KPE been open!? ...jeeeeez

So they now incorporate the maps into the iDrive hardware and does not need the DVD drive anymore? interesting...

I'm guessing it is software stored on the idrive but i'd doubt that copying the software off is an available option to the owner.

no worries, thanks. i'm just hoping i could "use" the navigation and not resort to dangling another device in the car unnecessarily. funny why BMW can't get this basic thing right for all its innovations.

The new navigation system on idrive reads the software off a HDD in the car. No more DVDs henceforth.
