Hi,

Might want to sell my E90 320i if the price is right.

EVERYTHING on the car is STOCK. Warranty / Road Tax till April 2008.
Colour is Graphite Grey. A few scratches on the car due to inconsiderate ppl opening doors as usual.
Mileage is around 35-36k

1x 8" OR 10" Rockford Subwoofer with enclosure (not sure how big, in the boot)
1x Kicker Amp from Rockford
All Audio/power cables are clamped and done properly. No Naked Wires. High quality cables.
Did the first oil change at 10k mileage at pml(I still believe it needs to be changed after run-in)

This is direct from Germany. Not from South Africa. Hence the higher OMV of 6k+
V.low mileage.selling at 93K negotiable, very close to dealers' offer.

ya, what is the right formula to calculate the most realistic depreciation and what is the assumption on the calculation ? i.e. assume drive to full COE expiry ?

I have doubts on the depreciation figures on sgcarmarts, not sure if they are realistic.

well.. basically 55% of your OMV at the end of 10 years.

Selling price - (55% of your OMV) / remaining years.

For a new 320, OMV is about $44k. 55% of that is 24,200.
Selling price is about 130k minus 24200 divide by 10 years.

Which will give you 10,580 per year.

Example:
If i am pricing to selling my car. i usually work backwards. a second hand 320 should carry a depreciation of about 9k a year.

remaining years 7

so 9k X 7 = 63k
63k plus 24.3 gives me 87.2k

So the trick to be a serious seller is then to price your car at a depreciation that is fair.

I was considering buy a second hand previous... but some of these seller are crazy in their asking price.

A 1 year old 320 selling for 115k. The depreciation alone doesn't make any sense. plus... if i pay 115k, + 1400 (1 year road tax) + 2000 (transfer fee) = 118.5

Which means the first owner wants to sell a 1 year old car, and expects to suffer less depreciation then he should be. That is crazy... and even than.... i could add less than 10 k and get a brand new one.

The idotic thing is, a lot of seller is asking for this kind of price!

Thanks... got the picture now.

These high asking price does it normally only happens to bimmers ? Believe it may be so as bimmers' second hand markets are still hotcakes, so there are demands for it which in turns make sellers asking for higher price.

But as buyers, as you mentioned, if the price is too near (~10k after all those extras) to the new car price, it just make perfect sense to go for new car as you got better interest rate as well.

Yep... you are right.

But... If you look at the honda, which has a hot second hand market too, the sellers are pricing their cars at a much more reasonable price. Same for a Mercedes.

A C Class (previous version) about 1 year old would be priced with a depreciation of about 8.5 to 9k per year. compare that to the BM 3 series, where people are pricing it 9 to 9.5k. Essentially the cars are comparable to each other.

But what can i say, when there is buyer there will be sellers.... hahaha... i guess emotion is strong on many who wish to own a beamer.
