MWTS BMW 728iA

Hi guys,

I was looking at selling my ride:-

4/99 BMW 728iA
83,000 km
Maroon with Black interior
Facelift to '01 look - front & rear lights, chrome nose grilles and body color bumpers
18 inch BBS RXII with Bridgestone RE050 235/50/18 (only used for 6k km)
Immaculate condition
Inspection II completed late last year
Intermediate oil change just done 3 weeks ago
OMV: 72715
COE: 38976
Paper value:- approx 94400
Body: approx. 8500

Given its age, export would make more sense, but I'll be losing 7% for conversion of paper to cash (I am looking to buy a 2nd hand car). It would also be a shame because my car is really in great condition (you can ask Whisky_Tango, who did my headlights), paintwork and all, but the export dealers don't give a premium for that.

PM me if you're interested. Can email you pics or view the car in person.

Thanks.
Yuin

Re: MWTS BMW 728iA

hi i actually drive the same car but 10/00, basically i was thinking of selling and looking to get a 730 or 735. Now have decided to prob keep the car lose too much, anyway if u are keen to trade the rims let me know bc i am keen on the RXII mines currently the OEM 18" that comes with the facelifted batch. My advice is to buy a new car then u can get a better deal, most pple wont buy bc the car price will be too high loan quantum too short so monthly can be as high as 1.8k. cheers

Re: MWTS BMW 728iA

Hey Yuin... what a waste to let go your car.

Touch it, clean it and drove it. Immaculate conditions!! Even the drive was so smooth and quiet.

Tot you will be keeping another 5yrs b4 I take over. :(

Re: MWTS BMW 728iA

Hi guys,

Yeah, I realise I will lose quite a bit of money by selling. It's amazing that such a great car fetches peanuts in the export market. There's nothing really wrong with the car, just that my hands a bit itcy and wanted to change to a 2nd hand 530, which is faster and sportier.

It's a matter of going with the heart (buy 530) or mind (stick to 728).

Cheers.

Might I suggest that u hang on to your car for a while more since u already lost so much (and I can sympathise with u on that). This will allow the 530i resale makt to build up so that u can get a used 530i with the 258bhp powerplant instead of the 231bhp powerplant. I dun expect any of the 258bhp ones to be on the resale mkt till next year.

Re: MWTS BMW 728iA

the reality is that the demand for the 7 is poor overseas so the exporters are offering only 'peanuts' for it, as for the 530 i have been monitoring the price for the last 2 months for 530/730, the dep for both cars have dropped significantly, as u have already past the 5 yr mark u should hold till after next year march, i understand that the omv will be adjusted again, this will lead to a further drop in price, also the current 530 that is in the market have very poor specs. Like T6 said wait for the 258bhp 530 to enter the market. btw the highest i got was 11k + full paper for a new lexus, so u could consider that as a interim measure. cheers

Wow, that is kind of low as my fren traded in his June 2001 525i at Lexus for $108k 3 mths ago. So the body of his car was like close to $30k coz his paper was $78k. But the 7 series traditionally have poorer resale than the 5 series in the overseas mkt. I can never figure that out. Even between a 530i and a 730i, it seems easier to offload a 530i.

I believe it is the size, lots of pple are not comfortable driving a 7series due to its length. The rebate for the paper value is getting from bad to worse from 3% to 7% currently.........sigh

Re: MWTS BMW 728iA

actually bet the e39 and e38 i actually find the e38 dynamics better having owned/driven the 525. Its true that the e39 530 is far easier to sell then the e38 728 but bet the 530 and the 730 its the 7 that sells faster prob bc the specs on the 04/03 batch is better and the omv is abt 15k higher but the selling price is pretty close. In the last 2 months i monitored 3 730s that were sold but the 4 530 in the market are still for sale.

BTW for info the 7 is going at abt 15.5k dep n average omv is abt 86k. there was actually a facelift in 2004 and now again in 2005.

cheers
