Must I stick with BMW-spec PS2s?

If i was thinking my tyres, should I replace it with the BMW-spec PS2s? Theoretically I should right since the tyres were specifically designed with the car in mind. Similar to this is Porsche's N0/N1 spec tyres.

Was thinking of swapping to something more aggressive like the RE11 or AD08 but the concern is there.

Speaking of which, who are the reputable tyre shops that can bring in both RE11/AD08? Leong Seng?

What do you guys reckon?

Re: Must I stick with BMW-spec PS2s?

Had changed my oem rft reo50 at leong seng to ps2.
Regret... My steering vibrates slightly at speeds 110km up.

Did tyre rotation, high speed balancing and wheel alignment.
Issue still there. Sianz...

My advice stick to ur oem tyre size/brand better.
i itchy backside change from bridgestone oem to michelin turn out worse.
And the ps2 cost me more... :(

:furious:

Re: Must I stick with BMW-spec PS2s?

hmm my rims are oem 17" nvr kerb before in good condition.
the vibration oni surfaced after the tyre change.

still trying to live wif the vib...

(By e way u got lobang to solve my issue?)

never heard of such phenomenon caused by rubbers. rims can also warp with wear n tear. check with reputable tyre shops what is the cause

u dont really hv to...

if u r referring to ur M3 wif factory 18in wheels then yeah the rear PS2 is bespoke to the car, ie it comes wif 40mm profile instead of the 35/265 aspect ratio you would normally find in after mkt.

In my personal exp, changing to aftmkt non factory specs never bother me at all.

speaking of that, my e92 335 per BMW spec for 18 inch tyres is 225/255 front n rear. What if you use 18 in 235/265 instead. Will one lose the steering feel since 225>>235.

Made the plunge. BMW-spec PS2s 245/35 ZR19; 265/35 ZR19

OEM 19" spec.

essentially the main benefit of that change is you get more grip as your contact patch wif the road is wider. I am assuming same tires here.

U will find the steering is a tiny bit heavier and pick up slighlty luggish due to extra weight...

But again, there are pros n cons..........as usual.:juggle:
