Must I service my car/engine with PML to enjoy warranty?

Hey folks,

I was about to undertake my first oil change for my 320 and bought my oil etc. I was going to do this at JuzzForCars but I was told by PML that if any outside party tampers with the car, I lose my warranty. Simply, PML is saying that if I get JuzzForCars or anyone else to change my engine oil, I lose my warranty. I'm finding this strange and I wanted to check with you experts to see if PML's comment is valid.

Any feedback is appreciated. Cheers!

Hi..Jase, if is still under warranty and since is your first servicing why dont you go back to PML..you wont just lose your warranty like that..unless you have use a wrong specs engine oil,oil filter and damage your engine...normal oil change will not void your warranty..

Thanks, cwk. Going back to PML would have been a little more costly, and they take more time to service the car. I'm not opposed to doing so though (since I've bought the oil and that helps to reduce the cost) but I'd like to know whether PML's comment is valid or whether it's just a threat. If it's the latter, I'd be upset.

jase...for me i would prefer to go back PML for service during this 3 years, cos i will always ask them to check on other things..so i dont have to wait till car break down than i claim warranty...i dont think they do only just servicing...cos i know they will put your car key in the transponder...and it will indicate any other parts failure..correct me if i am wrong! good luck

I actually did servicing at J4C in between the recommended service interval and PML did not even notice it so I still had warranty changes done with no problem. If you skip the PML service then they have a reason to void your warranty. Give them a small window of opportunity and they will try to evade warranty replacements etc. However, it also depends on your relationship with the SA. If it is good he will close one eye, at least that is my experience.

My 6er SERVICING light blinking every goddamn time I crank up the beast. Can't be bothered coz it's such a hassle to bring it to PML, plus the wait and all...the service is just overrated! Only reason why I'd let them continue to service my 6er is for regular idrive program updates. That's about it. Besides, considering the stuff I've done to my 6er and things that are going in, voiding of warranty is just around the corner. LOL.
