Minimum Standard of BMW

Tried all the cars u mentioned above. To be honest the audi left the worst impression on me. Ride was so so, engine was noisy and the turbo kicks in abruptly rather than across the rev range. Only thing that was appealing were the gizmos on the dashboard. for that price tag u only get an in line 4 engine.

C180 had the best ride comfort of the lot. The adaptive suspension soaks up road undulations the best amongst the cars. Interior is also very well consturcted. the fake iDrive is an added incentive to play around with and makes the dash look a little more high tech if thats your kinda thang. Engine is noisy though above the 3000 rpm mark. Then again its never mercs forte to have a silent 4 pot engine.

IS250.......still leaves an impression on me. The amount of gizmos you get for that price is truly value for $$$. Engine is the most silent by far even when pushed past the 4500 rpm mark. Engine however is still not as punchy when compared to its 325i peer. Build quality I feel is only good at the start. I still experience the signs of a jap car despite all the rave about lexus build quality. yes reliability may be undeniable, but the dash and doors still emit imperfections when pit against the C180. Steering is far too light which makes handling very unassuring. Totally no feel with the road.
The more I'm convinced now that the saleability of the A4 (I understand A4's sales surpassed the E90 in certain markets) is due to its impressive equipments rather than its engine. BMW really got to wake up!!

BMW nvr sell because of its equipments.

BMW sell because of its driving dynamics.

BMW today has improved (in term of equipments) as compared to eon ago.

Re: Minimum Standard of BMW

Long overdue IMO. PML did try to improve but too little too late. Finally BMW Asia woke up to their senses.

Are the customers today looking purely for driving dynamics or both? Perhaps the new A4 tells a convincing story, judging by its sales performance

Are you referring to PML will be losing its M division?

I guess the M market demands more exlcusivity.

Just look at C&C? do they lump their other marques that they handle with Mercedes?
no! but then again PML handles only BMW.:biggun:

If I'm not wrong, Jap cars cost as much as German cars in Germany, if not more, because of freight and duties...

Oic no wonder, but ppl here like to drive the Audi Avants and the BMW Station Wagons. Mercs seem to be relli not that popular here. VW seems more popular than mercs kekeke.

Oh, you are in Zurich now, I'm going there middle of next month. Really dreaming of seeing the whole road fills with BMW, Audi and Mercedes, should be very interesting. Must have many BMW accessories shops there?

Yeah now I was in both Zurich, Lucerne and Frankfurt and I must say Frankfurt has majority of German cars on the roads cos in Germany ma kekekekeke. Zurich also quite alot of German marques. Now Im in Paris, hmmmm much lesser german marques liao. So far I didnt see any BMW accessories shops here yet kekekekekke. But many Watch Shops in Lucerne (Switzerland), all the watches see until I blurz...but no $$$ buy kekekekeke. Nice place.

If I were you, I would go to the BMW HQ in Munich and view the new generation 5 series. I heard BMW AG has also decided on the new generation 3 series. This would be the last car designed by Chris Bangle, my idol. Go and visit him too.

Re: Minimum Standard of BMW

Saw from another tread that PML is no longer bringing in the 320 basic and now it only sells 320 professional. There is another new version though, 318. I have not seen it myself but some bros from another tread said it is better equipped (but engine specs may be more inferior) and higher price compared to the previous 320 basic

318i has same features as 320i Basic except for electric seats with memory compared to Basic's manual seat adjustment, and 20 less hp than 320i.

320i Professional now has electric seats with memory (previously partially electric).

335i now has M Sports suspension.

Personally, I found the electric seats with memory very useful. Cheers to PML, well done!

I was in Zurich last week and I found that there were very few Bimmers and Merc on the road. More of VW, Renault, Audi, Skoda and yes Smart, very cute and adorable. Hope some dealer will import it to Singapore.

I just got my 320i Pro about 3 weeks ago and my seat is only partially electric, the one without memory, now the new ones have the complete setup. My friend who bough his 2 years ago has got a bit more gadgets than me. Really don't understand how they decide on what to include when..:furious:

My ride doesn't have M sports suspension but PML have priced the new one higher especially with the increasingly higher COE, so there is some give and take. Just need to do some research before buying and then live with it for next few years (preferably 5 years) before changing to another one. If they bring in a perfect car at an affordbable price, less of us will be looking forward to an upgrade in a few years's time, so I don't foresee it happening for stock car. They will always add something here and minus something there, keeping within a certain OMV budget.

I just find out the differences out of curiosity but I'm not bothered by it since I have already bought the car. It's still a damn good ride without the M sports suspension.

Do join us for the charity event on 21 Jun 09 and enjoy the company of bimmer drivers and do a good deed at the same time :)
