hi folks

got an amazing deal on a set of pirate import PSS from france.
tyre shop gave me 2 quotes for agent and pirate tyres.

the price difference is so great that buying agent tyres will make me a carrot head.

tyre shop told me pirate tyres' material different from agent's tires.
I told him that is agent's bull shit.

like that pirate bmw and pml bmw got material difference meh ?

If PIRATE IMPORT meant fakes, then he's telling the truth where only the exterior of the tyre looks identical (embossments too) but the internal compound and the way it is melted and merged.

If PIRATE IMPORT meant PARALLEL IMPORT, then u r right.

If PIRATE IMPORT meant fakes, then he's telling the truth where only the exterior of the tyre looks identical (embossments too) but the internal compound and the way it is melted and merge are not... consider this

If agent says its the same, he won't be able to sell his original. It's like saying PML and PI bimmers are the same, PML will close shop. So PML BMW is better. If drive at LCK can take off like F15....lol

My super genuine authentic PML BMW doesn't fly like an F15 at LCK. Worse still, kenna chiet by Sonata cabby-yo-le... How arh? Can I claim warranty?

Agent and PI sell the same tyres unless those are rejected tyres or they fail QC which is not supposed to be selling in the market or be destroyed.

If circulated in the market, then the person who authorised the write off sold it to PI.

Better check the tyres numbers.

ie, maybe too out of balance so cannot handle too high speeds.
turns out my 4 tyres look ok on balancing machine.
their factory code is 6U, meaning france.

The boss really have alot of bullshit.

If a tyre fail QC, the DOT(Department of Transport) mark wouldnt be on the sidewall. DOT needs to be approved before they can go to USA.

More often than not, the PI tyre are slightly older tyre(4D on sidewall. Eg 3211 means 32nd week of 2011) or really PI from kantao lobang.

Yes, factory of manufacture is also on the side, different brand got different code for their factory.

previous tires were csc5, wanted ps2 but that time very exp because no cheap cheap PI.
I am emotionally biased towards ps2 so I reckon PSS wins csc5 pants down.

hmmm, i wouldnt risk my life with 'water goods' tyres, in case QC not 100%.
same with unproven brand brakes and wheels

normal car power is ok, but if your power is high, dont play with bad tires.

I beg to differ. What makes you think the local distributor (chin seng hin) does any additional QC on the tyres he gets from michelin? He basically just buy and sell the tyre.

PI seller in sg also has to get their good from an overseas distributor.

For example, toiletries from the shops in chinatown are also from vietnam/thailand distributor and are sold at discounted prices. Any difference in their pantene and those from ntuc? Neah, only price different.
