Michelin Pilot Sport CUP

Does anybody know who stocks the Michelin Pilot Sport CUP tyres particularly in sizes 235/35 19 and 265/30 19. Thanks for any leads.

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport CUP

Ans is : Not a single shop

Tires like these are typically on order request basis.

The reason tire shops dont want to stock up these sort of tires are because of various factors:
1. Lack of continuous demand
2. Unlike street tires, semi/slick tires are typically only good for 6mths as the compound can easily harden up if not in use.

The way i c is ...unless we hv our own track circuit, we won't be able to get this type of tires off the shelves so easily esp if we r talking bout expensive ones like PS Cup and Pirelli Corsa.

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport CUP

order also must take 5 mths....n its about 15% to 20% more than ps2. errr tyres wun last day to day driving more than 10,000km.

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport CUP

this tyre is for track, semi slick.
ya no one brings it in. Tried everywhere...

Pak: which one would u choose Pilot sport cup or the RE 055?

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport CUP

you have to advance order these tyres.. no one will stock them since demand is not there also...

PSC is still the King.
Due to the difficulty in sourcing n the skyrocketing price of PSC, I'd settle for 2nd best.

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport CUP

Pak, how was PSC on your porky as compered to the previous corsa system ?

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport CUP

i was running hot 32 in front n 31 psi behind on corsas. perfect. the psc r softer in compound i feel. but eh corsa has stiff sidewalls. prob stiffer than psc. on SIC its good...but once the road gets uneven...it can skip. the chicane in turn 2. i brushed it slightly n the car din like it. in the maser on psc...it just runs over it. maybe maser suspension is a lot softer as well.

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport CUP

Dave
Both are good in my book, similar performance but the CORSA surely lasts longer.
I suppose this is due the softer compound in the PSC. This makes the PSC slightly better in terms of grip and braking. As for steering sharpness n turn-ins...both are very similar.

Will see how the heatcycle this time affects the PSC for the next outing.
I was quite happy with the CORSA in that aspect after the 3rd outing.

Technical aspects aside, the CORSA, being same size as the PSC on the same rim, looks ugly in the shoulder coz too roundish..yikes.
Maybe it sits better with 11J instead of 12J

But still cudnt beat you, BFG Full Slick...ha
Maybe I shud try the Hoosier R6? Need help to bring up the wheels tho..

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport CUP

Only Dave is Siao enuf to bring up another set of wheels with tires just to track!!!

Hats off to him man!!!

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport CUP

dave sell the 888 n buy a truck leh. we all wanna buy full slicks too.

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport CUP

actually running Slick is cheaper than running semis.. esp if u run the Endurance compound, which can last u 80laps! only prob is transportation up!

I feel the PSC has better heat management than most Jap semis, except for the ADVANS. The Toyos, Bridgestones, all have good grip, but can't tahan the heat.. Also the PSC road noise is one of the best for Semi slick category!! Macham road tire sia... whereas those Jap ones, roar like Lorry tires!!

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport CUP

For road noise, PSC and CORSA really machiam regular tires...v quiet
there's a reason why they are categorized as Street Legal, mainly due to the longitudinal grooves both tires have

+1 dude.....but imho i still feel the PSC is a tyre for the road and not a full semi for track, i didnt feel comfortable on it at SIC macam like tracking on ice and was abt 2-3 secs slower than a used a048. Thats e reason y i change back to Advan...

Ya Chief, I'm a bit siao only, not very siao yet. My sai kong did a 2.40mins on the e39 with open diff and no LSD . He was telling me the compound was soft with flex on the side wall, he had not reach the limit yet. Waiting for next outing Pak .

Cheers

Re: Michelin Pilot Sport CUP

Thats a damn good time for a very heavy e39 !
