sweeetness..... matt black is the new black

Flat-Black-Nissan-GT_R-04.jpg
That first shot from behind of the flat black (or matte black, if you'd prefer) 2009 Nissan GT-R got us hoping we'd find more shots of Godzilla looking all hotted-up with what we'll assume is some pretty sweet wrap action. We weren't the only ones. Jalopnik reader Chuck was just as excited, coming up with some more shots of the new black-as-night and flat-as-can-be GT-R in Singapore from vanq photography by way of the NAGTROC forums. A few more shots below the jump.

Re: Matt Black GTR featured on Jalopnik.com

if buang/keyed, good luck trying to match the paint.... if i'm not wrong, both the paint and the clear coat are matt (so it's not just the base paint)!

Re: Matt Black GTR featured on Jalopnik.com

After I look through the Novitec Ferrari photos, I came to this conclusion - either you like it a lot, or hate this colour !!!

it's not paint though, it;s a wrap

Re: Matt Black GTR featured on Jalopnik.com

oh! didn't know that... the ones i read about in paint forums involve both paint and clear coat.

just wondering... if it's a wrap, would it still be able to be polished off if there's bird poo stain or swirls/scratches? does anyone here who owns a matt black wrap car can share his/her experience on this?

Re: Matt Black GTR featured on Jalopnik.com

Re: Matt Black GTR featured on Jalopnik.com

And it wont peel off ?

Re: Matt Black GTR featured on Jalopnik.com

nope..it lasts pretty long...

Re: Matt Black GTR featured on Jalopnik.com

any idea what was the total dmg?

will it ruin the original paintwork?

Re: Matt Black GTR featured on Jalopnik.com

btw

any base coat colour is matt, its the clear that makes it shiny. Or add a falttener to the clear and that also becomes matt.

Re: Matt Black GTR featured on Jalopnik.com

the photos look nice....but have to see the real car to be sure.

that is incorrect... just take a look at any single stage paint from the pre early 90s...

Re: Matt Black GTR featured on Jalopnik.com

yes thats not base paint. Base paint is usually 2k, even acrylics are flat before clear.

You can get 2k paints and enamels that are shiny off the gun. But the topic said base colour, which is always flat and a 2 part system, it HAS to have clear. Base colour + clear. Even candies, pearls etc are flat off the gun and needs to be cleared.

show me a metallic paint thats shiny off the gun, in fact any base colour paint

Re: Matt Black GTR featured on Jalopnik.com

well phil, let's just say maybe i have a different idea of what's matt and what's glossy. I do agree with your statement that clear coat adds most of the glossiness.

here's a website that shows base coat and then clear coat in images.
LA TR6 A FRANCOIS - LA PEINTURE/THE PAINT JOB

I guess some will say that it's matt at the base coat stage, but to me it's not really matt.

The difference is that you need not re-register your car's colour on your log card. Plus the process is reversible - no effect on "resale price."

There was a blue C2S wrapped completely in orange at GenConcept - owner wanted orange but dun wanna spray-paint the car for fear on impact on resale value........
