Maintaining cost Vs 3 years Warranty for E90

i was at PML last weekend & I am thinking of getting a 320i however i have some doubts which i hope any kind soul her can help me to ease:-

1) They offer a 3 years warranty, does that mean that i do not have to pay for servicing?

2) I am presently driving a rex. How does the maintaining cost vs a 320i?

3) I was reading about fuel consumption, the booklet mention it is 9l but is it true?

I was offered at $127K (after loan rebate, trade in, etc) for the package before end of the year.

Thank you!

Re: Maintaining cost Vs 3 years Warranty for E90

Hi,

For pt 1:
Are you referring to warranty or service package? When I got mine abt a yr back it comes with the service package and that is inclusive of both labour and parts. So you correct to say its free. This package also includes brake pad, etc. etc.

But do note that PML service is once every 25k. So like most of the other ppl here, they will have their car serviced at other workshop intermittently.

For pt 2:
I have never own a subaru before but some other jap car. If yours come with the service package as mentioned in pt 1, then it should not be a concern at all. (at least for the few yrs) But following which, IMO the "maintaining" cost will be slightly higher then jap but its marginal (maybe abt 25-35% more)

But if you are referring to other kind of "maintenance", i.e. mob, then its unpredictable :)

For pt 3:
There is a discussion thread on 320 fuel consumption. You should refer to that.

Hope this is helpful :)

Cheers!

Hi Eldwin,

Thank you for your pointers,

Point 1
Does it neccessary to be serviced at other workshop intermittenly?

Point 2
Can u share your fuel consumption, i read the post of "320 fuel comsumption" it varies from 7 - 10l therefore i am alittle concerned.

Thank you.

serviced at other workshop intermittenly

Re: Maintaining cost Vs 3 years Warranty for E90

PML would say its not really necessary but I think its a matter of preference. More like a good to have then a must have. Honestly, I did not do it for my first 10k as well and did my first servicing at PML when it was 25k. But I am planning to do my next servicing at my own workshop when its 35k.

I kept my ride original (which is rare in this forum :) ) except that I added a sprint booster. My fuel consumption is abt 9.8 - 10.2.

keith, did you calc what your SE is giving you? current promo price is $136000, less $5800 ($(1371-888×12mths advertised promo if not taking 90% loan) and $1250 insurance rebate = $128950. so u saying that he's giving you a disc of $1950 or is this your cash back?

Re: Maintaining cost Vs 3 years Warranty for E90

Hi Gadgets, that is the loan rebate. He did not go into the advertised promo. Are u saying that there are more cash back other the loan rebate?

Re: Maintaining cost Vs 3 years Warranty for E90

cash back = loan rebate = 5.25% of loan amount offered by banks currently. if this is so, then your SE basically gave you nothing...if you need an intro, pm me

Re: Maintaining cost Vs 3 years Warranty for E90

Are u a SE? I was thinking of getting it early next year.

Re: Maintaining cost Vs 3 years Warranty for E90

no i'm not, just a quite happy buyer. but i must caution that after this year end promo, i think the next time u are able to get a better bargain would be june when PML closes their financial year...by which time, i suspect 7% GST would have been implemented.

Re: Maintaining cost Vs 3 years Warranty for E90

OK, thank you. I think i have with only 3 days but i have not sell my current ride yet..

Re: Maintaining cost Vs 3 years Warranty for E90

Pt 1 - Yes, many people service ourside in between the recommended service by PML. Is it necessary? No but is it good, I would probably think it is better for the engine and that is my reason for doing it.

Pt 2 - I used to drive an STi and normal servicing is the same for both cars outside of PML. I have not been to PML yet but I can imagine it will be expensive. As for mods, you will not have a lot of stuff to modify like in the rex so it could save you some money BUT if you do go for mods, it is more ex on the BM, I think.

Pt 3 - I have a friend that gets between 10.8 - 11.2 km/l but he does a lot of highway driving.

Hope this helps! Cheers!

not sure if i'm right but i've asked around for a quote on my previous ride, somehow PPSL's quote to me was at least 5k more!!! i think to them, its money from the right pocket to the left...

Re: Maintaining cost Vs 3 years Warranty for E90

Hi Sting, thank you for the pointers.

Hi Gadgets, do u think u can intro yr SE to me, thanks in advance!

Re: Maintaining cost Vs 3 years Warranty for E90

keith, pm'd u alr. good luck

Re: Maintaining cost Vs 3 years Warranty for E90

Thank you Sir! Hope the offer still valid early next year.

Re: Maintaining cost Vs 3 years Warranty for E90

Hi Guys, i was told that if the 3 years warranty will be void if we conduct our own 3rd party servicing, can anyone verify?

Re: Maintaining cost Vs 3 years Warranty for E90

i think its true, even KM does it for their Hondas. but i thot i read some bros here somehow managed to 'work round' this restriction...

Re: Maintaining cost Vs 3 years Warranty for E90

Hi Gadgets, i heard one time servicing at PML will cost $700-$800, is it true?

Re: Maintaining cost Vs 3 years Warranty for E90

while I have not done it for my car yet, but my friend who has the E46 320 had 2 servicings done thus far at PML, first one at around $400+ and the 2nd one at $800+, both about 1 year apart.

our cars require servicing either 25k or one yr, whichever is earlier...so technically its once per yr vs twice per yr for a jap car...which i think works to be around the same or slightly more
