My first Lancer COE was $66k in 1996 so we are not there yet. Ppl are more cash rich now then in the 90s.
With the 7800 pieces of COE cut starting from Feb 2011, price will continue be bullish till begining of 2012 if economy is still doing well.

If you have a car that is less than 1.5 yrs old, you can sell the min loss or drive for free. If not hold on to your current ride. After selling your "nearly new" car, one shld go for those that is going to 5yrs soon. Buy near export price and ride out the high COE for the next 1.5-2 yrs.

road will still be as congested as now.. because high COE won't encourage people to sell. Instead, it will only deter buyers. The number of cars on road will be same just that there will be less new cars.
Luckily I bought my Audi quattro in October.

COE is only going to surge higher.
523 sells at 210K . Basic cost w/o COE is 88k at the current OMV.
The balance is 128K for them to secure the COE.
Take away the cost of COE at 65K, the balance of 63k is still a lot of profit after covering warranty cost and commission.
PML would rather make less profit with a more expensive COE, than to lose the bid and the deal altogether. They will go all out to outbid anyone else. Other marques seem to follow same tactic.
