just a headup to guys looking for something so rare. happen to flip classified this morning n saw a 12/03 m3csl for sale. never put price so dun know how much owner asking.

btw, i got nothing to do with the owner or the sales, just happen to see it so wana give you guys/gals a headup. :)

Re: m3csl

Seems like the same car that was advertised bout 1-2mths ago.
Asking price at the time was SGD 304k

Re: m3csl

For that price, I will go for a new RS4 man. I think very few people will appreciate the csl. Those who want a M car will juz settle for a M3 and save tonnes of moola over the csl.

Re: m3csl

triple m,
from ur point of view is dat on a high side??

Re: m3csl

think the guy got it at slightly above $400k.... n heard very very low mileage....

did the ad say the car has air-con n radio? :)

Re: m3csl

Gad
Brand new at the time was low 400k ish so plus limited production => rarity factor the asking price wasn't unreasonable. That means over the period of 2.5yrs, the owner has lost more than 100k,...pretty normal I'd think.

Obviously it will be hard to sell at 300k in local context. Many may not appreciate the car as it's really a dedicated track car like Porsche GT3 RS. Highly niche market indeed.

I personally wouldnt touch it but seriously, it's a breed of its own and a regular M3 is nowhere near CSL when it comes to track performance.

Cheers

thanks bro (",)

Re: m3csl

damm..nice..I want..haha

Re: m3csl

the ad never mentioned anything about aircon n radio. for 304k, i think i buy rs4 also but then again both car not in the same league to compare..

r33devil, since u like it y dun give the owner a call n check it out. but i personally prefer you white shark.

Re: m3csl

I have spokent to him before
:)

yeah, different league...the rs4 will smoke the csl haha

Straight line yes, but track no. Autocar UK did a 4car compro few months back. RS4 came in 3rd behind M3 CS (not CSL) and Cayman S on track. CSL should be even quicker.

Re: m3csl

.... people will say $304K = 2x EVO with change …. Sorry, can’t resist…. Hehe! :)

The UK AutoCar 4 car states that the RS4 is marginally outperformed by Cayman and M3CS in track but did not state the timing or did they say they are using the same driver etc.

The current Top Gear. Fifth Gear and EVO mag states that the RS4 is a faster car. EVO mag benchmark track timing at Bedford Autodrome West Circuit shows M3 CS clocking the 1.8 miles at 1min 29.8sec while the RS4 clocked 1min 28.5sec. Same test driver and same condition.

However, with the new M3 coming soon, I believe the RS4 will be hard pressed to defence this lead.
That being said, I won't be surprise that the current M3 CSL is faster than the RS4 as it is so much lighter and track focus. However, the $100k more in price is just not attractive enough for most to get the CSL over the very capable M3.

Cheers!

Which is why BMW M-division is smart here by making CSL a limited production car => Scarcity factor.

Stock to stock, I m pretty confident CSL will beat RS4 on track.
Straightline wise is probably on par as CSL is also a sub 5 car in century sprint.

Re: m3csl

It's also equal to... 8x Cherrys with change!

Hehe...

i would say lot is also dependant on the driver. Hell if you put ralf schumacher and michael schumacher in the RS4 and CSL respectively, you are going to see a noticeable difference in the track times.
