The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded two contracts worth S$77.96m to widen the stretch of the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) between Clementi Avenue 6 and Adam Road.

When completed, one lane will be added to the main expressway in both directions, which will increase the capacity of the PIE and improve overall traffic flow for motorists using the expressway.

Work will start from the second half of this year and the entire widening project is expected to complete by 2014.

Nice....

Vroom vroom.

Cheers.

Re: LTA awards contracts to widen PIE

What a naive approach. From observations gathered from the past 15 years of driving, most taxi drivers will just gun to the rightmost lane within 100 meters of entering the expressway and then continue to hog it the rest of the way, bringing the pathetic traffic flow-rate back to square one no matter how many millions of taxpayers money is spent building so-called extra lanes. clap clap clap.

This will cost more than $77.96 M.

Re: LTA awards contracts to widen PIE

aiya same shit....widened twice oredi since PIE was opened.
roadworks will add to congestion until its completed in 2014.
so short-sighted....should have widened sufficiently since the last time.
same situation like CTE between jalan toa payoh slip road up to yio chu kang...widened and then widened again and then, widened again.
