Low standard of quality control

Dear all new owner bro / would be owners,

please do plan for premature failure of your dearest BMW. ...

Yesterday i had a shocked out of my life when i attempted to unlock my car....nothing happen! I tried a couple more times locking and unlocking but still nothing happen. Attempting to reassure myself; i switch to my spare key and still nothing happened!

I started to be very anxious. My car is only 1.5 mths old not a 150 mths car! I started to be panicky and kept trying to lock and unlock...somehow mysteriously the car managed to unlock. I sign in relief and tried to start the engine and ...NOTHING HAPPEN AGAIN! omg!

In the end, i have to call the BMW SERVICE MOBILE and guess what....i have a dead battery! Imagine a 1.5months car having a fail battery??? Where are the quality control measures that BMW promised? I thought i bought a prestige BMW not some sub-standard car right?? I drove for more than 20 years on more than 6 brands and none had this problem! Even my wife's 3 year old jazz had not failed even once and imagine my 1.5mths old BMW fail on me !!!

I lost all confidence with this brand. This is the worse experience with a new cars since i got my licence ...(oh yes, even my first proton saga did not fail this badly...hai...) I definetly got to email to BMW AG / ASIA; this is totally unacceptable to my standards.

Re: Low standard of quality control

tot normally BMW factory battery will last rather long...

Re: Low standard of quality control

Dear all,

by the way, just to inform all who are driving the new e90 that the battery that is inside our cars are bigger than the previous batches. The amp is also not 55 ones, they are 90 amps. The cost if without warranty is a whoppping S$470+...so do really beware.

Re: Low standard of quality control

90 amps and lasts 1.5 months.....

Could be a real faulty battery or some electrical leakage....

Gee, what a sweeping statement to make.

This is one of the first times i've heard batteries dying so quickly in the 10 years I've been running this forum. Really go check it out as per what some of the users here have stated. You're covered under warranty right?

Re: Low standard of quality control

Battery failure is rare with Conti cars guess you are the unlucky one..as long as they repalce FOC its ok abeilt some inconvenience...So far the main problem with BMW is the oil leaking problem and the high failure rate of the auto-transmission which BMW should seriously take note..

My friend Lexus battery died in 6 months too..

Re: Low standard of quality control

My car is still running the original battery, and its nearly 5 years old or 60 months.....

Dear Ryan,

sweeping statement is when the the statement carries a generalisation on what will happen base on a particular case. I am only writiing to pre-warn others but i did not say ""ALL bmw cars will have this issue." Unless i have said the statement "All....." then i am making a sweeping statement. Hope i clarify my stand.

Thks for the post...anyway a side Q : notice that while ur engine is not running, the audio turn off by itself after 30mins or so...is this a batt saver feature or sign of dying batt.....

Re: Low standard of quality control
