Low / Mid / High

Seen lots of guys complain about loss of low-end etc.

What is your definition of your different ends in terms of your engine RPM -

e.g

1. Low = 0 - 2000
2. Mid = 2001 - 4000
3. High = 4000 onwards

So when one mentions that there are issues with the low-end - One is saying the vehicle is travelling a whole lot slower than it used to at up to 2000 rpm on a certain gear (e.g 5th) ?

can feel the low-end pull is weaker......................

cheers

Re: Low / Mid / High

if 335i peak torque kicks in @ 1500 rpm ...
does that means it's low/mid/high are within the same rpm range?

Re: Low / Mid / High

Me a novice on these terms. That means low end gain is important and low end loss is a no-no... Else pick up will be sluggish. I observe that many exhaust systems make low end suffers, quite worrying. Think the only one that gives low end improvement is Eisenmann.

Re: Low / Mid / High

Hey snowmanyee, I'm newly on Eisenmann and am also feeling low end loss.

Prior to changing the exhaust, I get pretty much linear power delivery from idling to mid range, then the power really kicks in at high revs.

However, with the Eisenmann, the car now feels sluggish at low revs, with power only kicking in at about 2,500-3,000 revs together with a distinct change in exhaust note.

Bro you on Eisenmann sports or race? You on twin or quad? Reviews by bros that Eisenmann gives low end improvement in another thread. Hmmm....

Should be Sport, but both have not been allowed by LTA yet for E85. Boss says distributor is still working on that...

I think stock peak torque comes in at 4k rpm......are you refering to acceleration from a complete standstill to say 60kmlh requires you to rev till 2500-3000rpm ?

They have been working on it for at least 2 years now ...................

Re: Low / Mid / High

Usually low end is abt 3k , mid abt 5k and high end about 7k. For normal sedan car, only focus on low and mid as they usually cannot rev high through the gears.

I don't think I can hit 7k rpm but if 3k rpm is where the low end demarcates from the mid then we should all be fine after the exhaust mod.

I had assume the low end is at around 2k rpm ..............

What I meant is that as I'm revving up, the pick-up is very sluggish until about 2,500-3,000, after which the car really starts going.

For me:

Low - 0 ~ 2500RPM
Mid - 3000 ~ 4800RPM
High - 5200 ~ Red Line

Frankly speaking, any brand / make of aftermarket exhaust will have a slight low end lost.

Cheers ~ :)

yes yes yes yes .....no change in rpm, just change in km/h and gears
