Looking for 2-3 year old black cab

Hi Richard,

Wow.. didnt know PML can run out of black cabs?

Just a note though - when you mention price I believe you are saying the prices you were offered were too high.. I do realise that cabs depreciate lesser i.e. hold their value better over the years so you cant really expect a similar amount of depreciation as compared to a sedan or coupe. Just my observation and from close contacts as well. So if you find a nice black cab but the price is higher than what you expect, do give it a second thot!

Hope you find your cab soon!!!

Had previously checked out the ones on the tts website, and they don't have black cabs as well, but thks for the tip.

Thks also to SM for your thoughts. I am well aware of the higher depreciation payable for cabs, but the ones I had viewed were asking for prices where the depreciation for the first 2-3 years were about 15-18 per year on average, and I believe that is pretty higher given that it is common knowledge that the dep takes the hardest hit in the first few years; the lower list prices PM is currently asking for their cabs (in light of the new 3s next year, with the new 3 cabs to follow in 2006) should be taken inot account as well. Not sure if this reflects the views of the folks in this forum as well.

Also, does anyone have views on the material advantages (apart from the technical specs) of a 325 cab over a 320 cab?

thanks
Richard

Hi Richard,

Dont know much about the material advantages though.... you probably can check it out?

You probably already know - cabs are really heavy.. To me ideal is 330 cab! haha...Even with my 325 Cab - off the blocks you can really feel the engine working so much harder just to overcome its weight... but the decision is ultimately yours!

Actually its not higher depreciation bro... I think its lower depreciation.. correct? :)

Just curious - why do you want a black cab? Why not chose some other colour? Red? Silver? SteelBlue? Stell Grey?

with all due respect to beemer drivers whose cars are in other colours, black somehow has that sleek and mysterious look that somehow eludes the other colurs; guess it is just a personla thing really. Besides, think it complements a black hood best.

On the average for Conti cars the dep should be abt 25-30K for the 1st year and abt 15-20 for the subsequent years. anything beyond 05/2002 should be very close to scarp, only tricky part is figuring out the body value.

cheers

Dear all,

Greetings, Richard here, a newbie. I was encouraged by a friend of mine (die-hard Beemer enthusiast) to post this message here, so here I am.

I have been looking around for sometime now for a 2-3 year old black cab (preferably 320 or 325) but for various reasons (prce, condition, etc) have not been able to find one that feels and looks right. Went to PM and was told that there are no more brand new black cabs as well, so that option is out too. If anyone knows of someone, or is himself/herself thinking of selling a cab that fits the above description, would really appreciate a response to this message. Any useful feedback or suggestions would be welcome as well.

Many thanks!
Richard

hi richard...
fyi, a new 320Ci costs abt $199K on an indent basis.

anyways... i've got a 320Ci (Feb 2002) for sale.
depreciation is no more than $14.8K per year.
PARF is $38463 (minimum).

Partially agree on that.... black is always sexy...

But some will argue a convertible shouldnt be in black - it should be in a more vibrant colour..?
Sometimes a black cab with a black hood from far doesnt even look like a cab... Not that its not nice, I think I wouldnt mind a black cab at all.. just that why not be more happening?

;)

Hey dude,
Can't help noticing this thread as my nick keeps appearing... i'm a 30+ yrs old BlackCab :laughlik:

As spoken, will keep a look out for you... and like i said, you'll get a lot of questions answered in this forum as there're more die-hard enthusiasts than me here so keep 'em coming and make a wise choice and hopefully a good deal too.

Good luck!
Ron

Thanks for the msg HonRon. As mentioned to you, have shook hands on a March 02, 325 black cab today; looking forward to seal the deal by the end of this week. Car is in pretty good shape (I think and hope!), black on black with light yellow interior and aluminium trimming, mileage is about 29k, which is pretty low. Hopefully will be able to learn from the wise men and women on this website about how to get the best out of the cab.

Hey mate, congrats for your new acquisition and welcome to the topless club!

I'm still curious about this light yellow interior you mentioned... is it original BMW factory leather? Hope to see it when you swing by my place next Sunday 31 Oct. i'll intro you to the rest of the nuts :screwedu: ... Incidentally that's also the monthly meetup day at Kallang carpark, so brace yourself for the ride ahead, as you've chosen to own the Ultimate Driving Machine!

Start your mods soon!!!

thanks to all for words of support and encouragement; am certainly hoping to join the topless fratenity soon. Not sure about doing mods tho', not yet anyway, cos I know squat about the subject!!

appreciate the offer, many thanks.

Just one query. In a deal between private sellers, if no mention is made of the party who will bear the transfer fee when agreeing on the price, what is the norm or customary position? Seller or buyer bears?
