Was watching the news and YouTube videos on the riots in London. Really don't understand why these young punks are destroying their own country - one of the most civilized places in the World.

混水摸鱼 robot say one

Re: London Riots

lookin at the damages..looks more like some terrorist act rather than some local riot...too much booze..

Re: London Riots

thought that hooliganism is less rampant in London compared to the other areas in the UK.

their policemen don't seem to be not empowered enough to handle the situation. should go on the offensive.

That's a strange comment.

Many years ago, I heard similar comments made with regards to riots in the US to the effect like "all the niggers and hispanics have created these troubles"....... I did not think it sounded right from a social standpoint.

Re: London Riots

actually lets go london now! free shopping! join the rioters!

Re: London Riots

their economy is already in poor health and govt is broke. these morons are just making it worse.

Re: London Riots

These are the acts of alot of yobs. Remember the French unrest last year or year before? I think the same ingredients act as a combustible catalyst for this unrest in Ldn. Social disorder, unemployed youths, racism, immigration, tension against police, binge-drinking, lax laws etc. Of course there are the opportunists who would loot because everything else is chaotic. Law and order is never a strength of the UK police (patrol policemen do not even carry pistols or Tasers, just pepper spray). The sentiment of miscarriage of justice is overwhelming. The judicial system is weak (offenders get less than what they deserve). It is a forgiving society but it backfired on them. Based on the history of hooliganism, this recent unrest was just waiting to be unfolded. Oh and Blackberry magnified this too. Just like how Twitter and FB flamed the middle east unrest. Perks of social engineering tools or curses? You decide.

Re: London Riots

the death of Mark Duggan is a trigger point (and the perceived police brutality).

one article that pretty much sums it up.
What's Happening With the London Riots? | Mother Jones
main jest: youths, unemployment, and the racial tension that has been building up for a long time.

the social media is just a tool. that can make it swing either side. as quickly as it cause the mess, it can also be used to help mobilise people to stop, clean up etc.

Agreed with you.

I tink when things go wrong, its easy to push the blame away, in this case to the FTs. I always feel its rather difficult or would I say impossible to get the environment to suit oneself, rather oneself have to adapt to the environment in order for one to survive, excel or maybe be an elite in that environment.

On a side note unrelated to this thread, instead of complaining of the country or government which is rather pointless, energy should be shifted to working hard and excelling in what we do. Prices go up, we should think how to earn more money instead of lamenting $$$ not enough. I guess most ppl fall into the complaining category.......everywhere in the world I guess.....ppl are unhappy and not doing anything to help themselves thereby causing all these riots, etc

Re: London Riots

I believe one of the main problems is the influx of FT.... but it is not immediate, it takes a while. When cliques start to form and become more powerful, this is where the problems will start. US, UK, France and Australia are countries that have allowed a huge influx of foreigners. Not to say that all are bad apples but when there is high unemployment, that's where the trouble starts to brew. Nothing to lose is not a good thing....

On a conspiracy theory note, maybe its the Murdochs creating this in an attempt to draw attention away from him......
