Hi, any bros out there turn on this Live Traffic feature which can monitor traffic jams ? Pls share if it's really useful. Thks ahead.

Re: Live Traffic activation

My navigation redirected me to another route citing traffic congestion along Clementi Ave 6 at about 7pm+ last evening. I ignored the warning and ended up in a bad traffic jam once I turned into Clementi Ave 6. Turns out that it's a traffic accident and the location shown on my navigation screen is pretty close too. Not bad at all!!

How does it works ? U turn on the GPS for a guided tour, then it prompt u a traffic congestion ? If not, how it knows where r u heading to. Pls advise. Thks.

You need to setup your destination in order for your navigation system to know where you want to go to. The Navigation system will plan your route while avoiding areas with reported accidents. In my case, I chose to ignore the planned route and follow my usual route. (I had the habbit to ignore alternative GPS routes because of my previous poor experiences with Garmin and Papago GPS systems.)

When I was in the traffic jam, my car could hardly move and I looked at the traffic information provided by my navigation system and found an accident reported along the road I was trapped in.

Re: Live Traffic activation

I see.

Read abt it in the Handbook.

Wasted much petrol trying to turn it on but no avail.....

Live Traffic activation

sigh. last time i activated... it went missing when i got the car back from pml. sigh. lucky installer nice and helped me to reactivate.

Re: Live Traffic activation

I turned it on at Elebest abt a month ago. Max there is very helpful. It is a very useful thing to have but certain roads will not show as congested even if it is e.g Eng Neo towards Bt timah in the morining. But all the highways are definitely covered. 3 colours are shown on the grey scale map. Yellow, Orange and Red in order of congestion. Incidences like accident, lane closure etc are also shown and in order of distance from your car location and are quite accurate. Think this one of the most worthwhile things to have on your ride.

It's standard on PI cars from UK with Prof Nav and Premium map 2012. There is an additional button on the console that turns it on and off.

PML cars don't have I but I think Max at Elebest can activate it. Problem is that when your car goes for servicing n your software is upgraded you lose ll the Max mods

I hope PML will not void the car's warranty for software mods.

The accuracy of the live traffic warning is the best I have ever experienced in Singapore.

Live Traffic activation

yeah. the live traffic updates for the idrive is really good!

Re: Live Traffic activation

I did mine at soundwerkz. I'm very satisfied with the few features that had been loaded apart from the TMC. Happy with the personalise & good service given by Kelvin it's worth the $ spend.

Yes it is. Another tip is if u have the large split screen you can put the 2D map up on the main screen when u drive and plan your route. The iDrive is great cos you can zoom in and out and quickly see where all the slow downs are along your route. You may have to click the option to switch off the stupid clouds though. They appear when you zoom out.

The other nice thing is the interactive map. You can also use that to scroll around to check for traffic hotspots.

The other problem is when you drive at peak hours jn the evening all the major roads appear yellow or orange and makes you depressed as you anticipate hitting the jams everywhere

Can only deactivate the clouds in 2D mode, or perspective/3D mode also can turn off? never see the option before... how to ah?
