Light rattling sound when in drive gear

Hi bros,
I just gotten my e90 abt 1 week ago frm PML.
There is a very light rattling sound when I am in drive gear, and can be heard too when I slightly release my brake pedal when preparing to drive off. Once I accelerate, there isn't any sound. The sound is frm the front.
Any of u experience it b4? Any advices?

I had a similar issue with mine which increased when the AC was switched on. It happened to be the pulley clutch of the alternator. Just a thought

Hi E90-320i, May I ask if ur problem is solved?
The sound arises after a few days of drive.
I just went back to PML, they told me it maybe due to the exhaust pipe. There is lubrication residues in it which need to be combust out.
They advise me to run in my car 1st. if problem persist, then go back to them.
I am surprise they don't even know the actual cause of it.

It did for me. Best way to check this is, first remove the front engine cover and take the belt off the clutch and start the engine. If the engine sounds normal that is your issue. But the issues with rattles is it is always a game of elimination. This worked for me.

But that said, valvetronic engines are anyway slightly noisier than the throttle body 4 pots.

But mine only occurs under load at low RPMs. Might b A/C. When I switch it off the sound seems to go away... but recently I don't hear it anymore. Nothing was done to it.

Hi Detach8, thanks for sharing.
yup new car, and happen only after afew days drive.
The sound comes from the front, it happens only when i start to drive off after releasing the brake pedal or when in drive mode i am stepping on the brake.
But once i accelerate the sound will go away.
Find the sound disturbing, I really hope it will go away soon.

Don't whack your car. I think my mistake was I did whack my car a bit. In the end the rear differential up lorry and was creating a whirring noise. Got it replaced @ MA. Bed your car in normally and it is true some weird noises I had are starting to go away.

In fact, I have not hit my rev to beyond 3.5, still doing a run in for the car.
Didnt expect a reputable brand to have problems in the early stage of driving.
Juz seen in PML FB, there is a bro also complaining on having issues on his 5er only on his second day of drive.
I really wonder if PML really does any QC b4 delivery of the cars.......

This kind of thing is heng sway one ba. When my parents bought the Volvo S40 back in 2004 (first batch) it also had major engine issues, in the end they got a whole new engine + ECU for the car.

Yah, maybe juz my luck, hope is a blessing in disguise, at least get to do a re check on my car by PML.

No more sound, problem solved by Munich Autos in less than 2 hours.
It is 2 screws located at air vent which is loose near car engine.
Very disappointed with PML which did not solve my prob previously

i also tot is the same. I shw the pic to the SE, he indicated it is the top right hand side of the pic 2 screws which are loose =)
