License Plate Lights

Hi All.

Can anyone let me in on where can I change my back number plate backlights to the white ones? Similar to those on lexus, or if not close to it.

I have been to autobacs but they currently still are unble to overcome the problem of warning lights coming on.

The past week, i have seen at least 5 E90 320s with this already on the roads and am pretty sure it can be done.... hoping to get it done this weekend...

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Re: License Plate Lights

Hi,

Maybe you can try PML and I don't think they cost much. My stock 320i Prof comes with white "laysin" plate lights :)

Re: License Plate Lights

very simple DIY job, and costs less than $40. i posted it somewhere in this forum sometime ago.

go to a place where they sell LED bulbs. there used to be one opposite PML alexandra, but now the place is all boarded up and i think going to be torn down. usually the accessories shops will have it. it cost me $18 per bulb.

take out your existing bulbs. use the flathead screwdriver from your toolbox on the boot of your car. there's a small groove on the clear lenses on the license plate lights. just prise it out. also use the same to gently prise the bulbs out. it's being held in place by 2 clips. careful not to break it.

bring the bulb to the shop and show it to the person there. make sure you ask for the same size. get the one with at least 4 LEDs. and make sure that it is 5 VOLTS. anything more and it will melt the lenses.

installation is the reverse of how you took the bulbs out.

voila! you have white lights now! no check lights will come on.

and you can also change the interior lights as well.

if you want to take a look, ask C3PO or subzero. they have the same thing on their cars.

have fun!

Re: License Plate Lights

had a walk around alexandra village yesterday.

managed to find the LED bulbs finally.

shop's name is Seng Motor Hung.

the address is blk 119, bukit merah lane 1, #01-26.

ask for the LED bulbs for the rear license plates for BMW. would help if you could take out the existing one from your car and show them (for them to match as there are several sizes). the LED bulb costs $18 and you need 2.

cheers!
