I found out that the left side of my car is between 5-10mm higher than the right side. Recently went for spring change and wheel alignment. What has gone wrong and what should I do now?
It was reportedly that BMW in designing the ultimate driving machine has taken the weight of the driver into consideration in their weight distribution criteria. Hence a 60+ kg driver seated in the presumed driver seat (left hand drive) would square of the weight balance of the car.
Unfortunately, in a right hand drive situation, this is not exactly "ultimate", hence right hand corners handles better than left ones.. kekekee.. too bad isn't it.
You can try sitting on the passenger side to drive the vehicle by means of some gadgetry to command your pedals and steering control. Or you can invest in a sets of suspension with height adjustment to counter the offset. I myself took the second choice... the car do look square now but still handles right hand corners that little bit better.
I heard others have tried shifting the weight of re-locatable component like battery etc to the passenger side to provide the needed offset. Well I could be wrong about the whole thing but I do notice most of the stock E36 which I drives have this same characteristic.
If there are other brudders here that knows of other reason why a bimmer's always right tilted please do highlight.
